I'm a fairly new Mac user, and I am experiencing an annoying little problem:

When I do a restart, as I like to do once a week, I often find that when the machine
starts back up, spontaneously I have an old sound track start playing.  I think it's usually

the last track I played previously.  Not something I have deliberately stored on the machine,

but rather some "webinar" from the web that I listened to before.

The problem is I can't seem to find a way to kill this sound track.  And if I try to play
some other track, I get both playing at once.

Anyone know how to kill unwanted old sound tracks or files?

Thanks for the help.

Two questions: what do you quit to make it go away? Are you talking about iTunes? Or a web site in a browser?

And: what is in your list of startup items? Go to the Apple menu, choose System Preferences, then Accounts (or Users). Click on your user name on the left then on the right click the Login Items tab. What is listed there?

IF you are talking about something in iTunes, you can certainly delete the original. Please tell us WHAT is playing this track.

I have a few mail accounts and view them using MAIL on my desktop which is running Mountain Lion.

Just today, I noticed that on one of my mail accounts (my most important one), the mail is not being delivered to my desk top but I am receiving it on my iPad and iPhone.

I have tried the following:
GET MAIL
REBUILD
SYNC
TAKE ACCOUNTS OFF-LINE / TAKE ACCOUNTS ON-LINE
plus I've shut down my desktop, then pulled the power plug then restared a minutes later.

Also, I deleted the account on my desktop then added it as new again.

Still nothing. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Paul

Who is the email account with? When you re-created the account, did it retrieve your old mail to that account? Can you send from that account to another account?

I don't know if anyone here has had this problem but I'm finding that
whenever I use Siri commands involving Home (ie, direction Home,
Remind when I get Home...) the infomation it uses is to the same
street number and name as mine, but uses it for a (legitimate)
location in the adjacent suburb to my home.

I've tried all sorts of ways to get around this, but the result is
always the same I never get the reminders because as far as Siri is
concerned I have never arrived "home". Likewise if I were stupid
enough to follow the spoken directions to home I'd find myself at a
similar adress, but several kilometers from where I should be.

Just before I commenced this email I found the following in Apple's Siri FAQ:

"How does Siri learn who I am?
If Siri knows who you are, it can use your information to help you.
To make sure Siri knows who you are, select your contact information
in Settings > General > Siri > My Info."

I followed these settings then took a walk to the corner of the
street - entered a reminder for "when I get Home" - but frustratingly
no reminder appeared by the time I got to my door.

Opening the Reminder itself I followed the Location button and found
one instance of my correct address, and two of the incorrect one. The
uncorrect one had a tick next to it.

Anyone know how I can remove the incorrect addresses then I might
test this again in the morning.

Thanks
George
