I have a plist file in my main Preference folder (not user folder) that keeps coming up bad when I run Preferential Treatment. The file is "com.epson.Inkjet Printer Driver.UnInstallList.plist"

I dragged it out of my Preference folder onto my desktop and tried to open it with PlistEdit Pro, but it can't open the file at all, saying the file is damaged. Here's the error message from PlistEdit Pro:

"There was an error reading the property list file (The file /Users/Lou/Desktop/com.epson.Inkjet Printer Driver.UnInstallList.plist could not be opened because an error occurred parsing the file.

Plist parse error: Unexpected character P at line 1

JSON parse error: Unrecognised leading character at offset 0).
Would you like to open the raw text of the file instead?"

Does anybody know what this preference file does? Is it safe to just trash it?

I did buy and install an Epson 3880 printer not long ago, and I unhooked a defunct Epson 1400. Not sure if this file relates to those actions.

Thanks, Lou

I would delete it, empty the trash, then try to use the Epson 3880.
If it works, you are fine; do nothing else.
If it doesn't work, first try deleting the printer in System Preferences, then re-adding it.
The next step would be to try re-installing its software.

Thanks, Jim.

Printer worked fine after trashing this corrupted pref file. I checked both my Preference folders (system and user) after printing and this plist file was NOT recreated. Not sure what it was, but all is well.

If I have any problems going forward, I will follow the rest of your suggestions. :O)

I have lost the ability to connect to my AppleTV and my brain isn't figuring out how to reconnect. It's asking for my YouTube Password and when I try, it says the account name or the password is incorrect. I've tried every Password I could think of, but no luck. It looks like Google and YouTube are the same, so I changed my Google password (because I could do that on my computer) and tried that with my AppleTV/YouTube password, but it won't accept it.
I reset the AppleTV and still no luck. What do I do now? And thank you.

I should have said the YouTube part of the AppleTV isn't connecting. I have the other parts, such as Netflix and Computer which are still working.

Connect to youtube on computer to ensure username and password work in
general. Then start working on the Apple TV knowing the credentials are
tested and working.

Yes, I can access both Google and YouTube on the computer. I just can't access YouTube search on my AppleTV. It doesn't like my choice of passwords.

Perhaps you need a RAID [hard drive] that "kills bugs dead"

Sorry, could not resist...

But for what it's worth I did have small sand flies / "no-seeums" that
made it through the window screen get in my LCD monitor, behind the
protective plastic screen and in front of the LCD panel. The heat
ultimately got to them and they disappeared, probably inside the bottom
of the display's frame....

For those who don't know, RAID is a also a well marketed pesticide here
in North America.

Yes perhaps it does happen with a real insect, mine is certainly not a real insect and at one point changed size. I have not seen it for some hours now, but I did notice it a few days ago as well as today, so it appears and disappears………..

If it happens again, mirror your desktop onto another monitor. If the bug is on the second, then it is digital. If not, then it is real. At least you will have that solved.

Any chance someone had physical access to your iMac and is playing a prank on you?

Thank you for the first suggestion.

The second sentence - no I do not think so and also I remember this happening a few years ago, I am hoping Randy Singer will reply again when he received my reply to his question - if you look at his earlier reply to me you will see a movie of the said creature!

I had a real bug get behind the glass in my MacBook Pro a few years ago. I
pushed on the screen to get it to move, and it went "squish". Took it to
the Apple Store, and they replaced the screen due to 'foreign contaminant".

I thought that sounded like a good idea and tried to set up such a plan. But Time Warner Cable requires that any such message be displayed with full Headers, and I can't figure out how to make a rule that sends the junk messages with full headers.

Any idea how to get around that, short of displaying full headers in every message all the time?

If you are in Eudora, as I was for decades, then hit the blah-blah-blah button. In Apple Mail then View>Message>Long Headers or command-shift-H
