Paris, France - Tayasui today released a huge upgrade to its popular Sketches app for iPad, which reached 2 million downloads in its first month of availability and was prominently featured by Apple. Version 2.0 adds the two most highly requested features from users: Layers and Photo Import. Users can now import images directly onto the canvas from the photo library or by taking a shot with the iPad's built-in camera. Adding multiple layers offers artists a whole new level of freedom and possibilities to test designs and add depth to their illustrations.
The original version of Sketches, released earlier this year, raced into the Top 10 charts of the iTunes App Store all around the world.

Much of the app's success is due to its clever interface, which allows users to draw freely on every pixel of the iPad's gorgeous screen. Tools can be hidden when not in use, and clever gestures make the app not only swift and responsive, but amazingly fun to use.

Word Association Football: Puzzle Game of Words Associated via Pictures - Published on 07/30/13

Bowerhaus today introduces Word Association Football 1.0, its free word puzzle game for iOS, based on an idea of combining popular word associations with pictures. Players must go from a start word to an end word using three Picture Associations, each one chosen from a random group of 7 or more pictures at the botom of the screen. The challenge is in guessing the correct links from one word to the next AND in judging what picture is used to represent each word.
Ampthill, United Kingdom - Bowerhaus today is pleased to introduce Word Association Football 1.0, its free puzzle game for iOS, where players must get from a starting word to an ending word using three Picture Associations. Each is chosen from a horizontally scrolling group of unrelated pictures at the bottom of the screen. The pictures can be enlarged for easy viewing on smaller screens and each can only be used once per game.
An example puzzle might start with the word "pirate" and end with the word "sand". From "pirate" players must select the association to a picture of a treasure chest. From "treasure";, the correct link is to a picture of an island. From "island", one must tap the picture of the sea and, finally, "sea" links logically to the end word, "sand".

The Meeting Planner is highly customizable: users can choose a color theme, specify the duration of time slots, and decide which information (Coordinated Universal Time, weekday, date change, UTC offset, time zone, daylight-saving time) should be displayed in the time table.
After having found the best time for a meeting, cities and local times can be copied to the Clipboard so that they can be emailed to all participants. Users can decide to copy either rich or plain text, choose a text layout and date format, and determine which information must be included in the copied text.

Because some lenses naturally produce a lower contrast image due to the way light diffuses through the lens elements, adding post-production contrast effects is a great way to increase visual impact.

The effects pack is compatible with Final Cut Pro 7 and X, Motion, Premiere Pro and After Effects and contains four filters: Bleach Bypass, Detail Preserve Contrast, Hyper Contrast, and Luma and Saturation Contrast. Because some lenses naturally produce a lower contrast image due to the way light diffuses through the lens elements, adding post-production contrast effects is a great way to increase visual impact and make footage pop. With Nattress Contrast effects, editors can use edge-dependent contrast masking to preserves edges and maintain detail. The filter suite gives users independent control of luma and saturation contrast as well as the ability to digitally recreate the high-contrast film processing Bleach Bypass effect. Nattress Contrast is available now through FxFactory for just 49 USD.
Nattress Contrast Filters Include:
Bleach Bypass produces the high contrast film processing look of the same name. The result is a black and white image imposed over the color image. This effect increases contrast and graininess, while reducing saturation.
Detail Preserve Contrast divides the image into two regions: high detail and low (coarse) detail. Each region has its own contrast control. This filter can be used to create a greater separation between the subject and background.
Hyper Contrast uses edge dependent contrast masking to preserve the integrity of edges, enabling greater contrast adjustments without ruining details of the image. An S-Gamma option adds a film-like gamma curve to mimic the contrast response of film stock.
Luma and Saturation Contrast enables editors to increase or decrease the contrast levels of the luma and saturation independently. This filter is very useful when a simple contrast causes the saturation levels to bloom too much.

Boston, Massachusetts - Noise Industries, developer of visual effects tools for the post-production and broadcast markets, recently announced the availability of Nattress Contrast effects. The effects pack is compatible with Final Cut Pro 7 and X, Motion, Premiere Pro and After Effects and contains four filters: Bleach Bypass, Detail Preserve Contrast, Hyper Contrast, and Luma and Saturation Contrast. Because some lenses naturally produce a lower contrast image due to the way light diffuses through the lens elements, adding post-production contrast effects is a great way to increase visual impact and make footage pop. With Nattress Contrast effects, editors can use edge-dependent contrast masking to preserves edges and maintain detail. The filter suite gives users independent control of luma and saturation contrast as well as the ability to digitally recreate the high-contrast film processing Bleach Bypass effect. Nattress Contrast is available now through FxFactory for just 49 USD.
Nattress Contrast Filters Include:
Bleach Bypass produces the high contrast film processing look of the same name. The result is a black and white image imposed over the color image. This effect increases contrast and graininess, while reducing saturation.
Detail Preserve Contrast divides the image into two regions: high detail and low (coarse) detail. Each region has its own contrast control. This filter can be used to create a greater separation between the subject and background.
Hyper Contrast uses edge dependent contrast masking to preserve the integrity of edges, enabling greater contrast adjustments without ruining details of the image. An S-Gamma option adds a film-like gamma curve to mimic the contrast response of film stock.
Luma and Saturation Contrast enables editors to increase or decrease the contrast levels of the luma and saturation independently. This filter is very useful when a simple contrast causes the saturation levels to bloom too much.

Midnight Feast is a modern tale with a painterly art style designed to make best use of the iPad's retina display. Forty-four pages of story encourage readers age 9 and above to consider themes of drought, food insecurity & inequality. Author-illustrator Lynley Stace wrote this darker-than-average picture book to be enjoyed on several levels, with comprehension commensurate with age.

Midnight Feast is a modern tale with a painterly art style designed to make best use of the iPad's retina display. Forty-four pages of story encourage readers age 9 and above to consider themes of drought, food insecurity, and inequality. Along with their first storybook app, The Artifacts (2011), Midnight Feast emulates a traditional book with user-initiated page turns, while at the same time making use of new technologies. Non-signposted interactive hotspots are designed to encourage self-paced, exploratory reading and visual literacy. Interactions exist to further the plot, reveal character and support themes. Supernatural interactions can be de-activated via the options page.
Close reading notes for adult co-readers and teachers are available for free on Slap Happy Larry's website, and can be accessed from inside the app.
Midnight Feast is an international collaboration. Lynley Stace (writer/illustrator) is an Australian resident from New Zealand. The app was coded and optimised by Australian senior programmer, Daniel Hare. The main story is narrated by American Matthias Bossi. An original soundtrack was composed by New Zealand musician and composer Chris Hurn.
