I'm using Time Machine to backup my MacBook Pro. I've used it for several years without any problem. About one year ago I purchased a Seagate 1 Terabyte drive and it has worked fine. Now when it tries to make a backup I get the following message:

Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while creating the backup folder.

I've tried ejecting the drive and plugging it again, I've tried rebooting the computer...but nothing works. I will say that during one backup attempt I heard some bad sounds coming from the drive.

Any ideas??

Try running Disk Utility, selecting the volume in question, and clicking "Repair Disk".

Just to ask the obvious: can you *read* any of your backups on the external?

How much free space?

Is this your only backup drive?

No, I use a little Magic Mouse and control-click. Sometimes I use option-click to choose an iPhoto library or something.

I guess I can change back for that - I left all the Adobe stuff in the Apps folder. Thank you.

Save any document as a PDF using the print command. Then right click the saved document, select Get Info & you will see an Open With dialog towards the bottom of that pane to let you select to open all such documents with Preview.

I don't see them in the Preview Preferences or in the Adobe preferences. If I uninstall the Adobe stuff (8 apps some defunct) will Preview open the .pdf automatically?

Since NONE of them are current (except the Flash Manager), and ALL therefore represent possible security holes, I would remove all.

If you want a current Adobe product (e.g., Reader, or Flash) you can always go to Adobe.com and download the latest.

Sorry to ask an obvious question, Bob, but "tillable?" Might that have
been "fillable?" Or what?

Whatever, I'd rather have a completely NON-Adobe product to fill in forms.

Bekah, don't forget to use Preview for your graphics files too! Very
fast for resizing, cropping, etc.

You do know you can set it up for right-click if you want? It's in System
Preferences > Mouse and called Secondary Click (I can't give the exact
details because I don't use a mouse on my MBP).

Imo, it's more likely fillable - those forms you can fill in on the reader.

I thought we were talking farming, and tillable made sense.

Every regular on this list should be able to read typo by now.

No "DEVICES" listing.
