No takers, eh?
As a follow-up I thought I'd mention that I read that deleting the DS_STORE files via Onyx so I ran that but I still have generic RAW icons.
Any other other suggestions?

Without the preview in the Finder icon, I'm left guessing as to what image I'm looking at till I open it. Presently there are 2 work arounds:

I suppose you've seen this?
<http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3825 >
That's dated Jun 2012 so perhaps Apple no longer provides RAW compatibility
updates for 10.6?
The 6D is listed for 10.7 and 10.8.

I know you shouldn't have to, but perhaps updating to 10.8 might be your
best bet?

Salutes ^_^.... before uninstall Perian please try installing QuickTime 7, the info to get the installer is here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3678
Already I have migrated to Mountain Lion and with QuickTime7+Perian could play that other formats, including movies with subs files.
Read us soon, Amblin

Can you turn off the refrigerator and test?
Can you move the Express in the room and test? Higher is better too.

FWIW, we have the same problem here, where everyone throughout the
house receives wireless via Airport Extreme and Express extenders.
One room, however, has trouble maintaining a signal, even though it
has its own Express that shows a green indicator light and shows up
on the Airport Utility as a viable part of the network.
Nobody know why the room's signal is weak or dropped, but I suspect
it's due to the kitchen below the room, where a refrigerator has two
compressors working to keep it cold. I've heard that machines with
motors can disrupt receptivity, and this seems to be the only reason
left why that one room's reception is spotty at best. Everything
else gets great reception, regardless of the device.
So the question would be whether there's any kind of electrical
disturbance between the Airport and the device.
