The default maps use data. Also those google maps on iPhone are not
upgraded like Android phones. One gets voice & data from google maps
itself. One can also save maps gor worldwide use. I'm sure even after new
phones and maps would remain.

Cellular Data/WiFi Settings

I have a minimum ATT data plan therefore wish to use my Cellular Data as little as possible. I have WiFi at home, so WiFi is left turned on at all times. I manually turn Cellular Data off when at home and manually turn it back on when I leave. Am I making more work for myself than I need to?

Or ... Is there a simple App that will turn cellular data off with something like a simple click of a button or at least have a warning to let me know if I accidentally left my cellular data on without having to go through Settings/General/Network every single time to find out?

Barbara,

I was under the opinion that if you have both on the phone would use the WiFi first if it is available.

That is assuming you can sign onto that WiFi network, so at home the answer should be that it automatically choses your WiFi.

Get DataMan or another app that monitors cellular data usage. DataMan also tracks WiFi usage and you can set alarms for when you reach a certain cellular data level per time period.

For the iPhone there are 2 DataMan Apps to choose from. Is the Free one good enough for my needs, which are pretty simple, or should I pay the small extra amount and go with the Pro?

DataMan Pro - Real Time Usage Manager with Geotag - $1.99
DataMan Free - Real Time Usage Manager - Free

I don't remember the differences, so read the descriptions and if the free one gets it done for you, stop there. If not, lay out some money. The Geotag and Precise Tracking are __huge__ battery drains.

My suggestion, try the free one first.

Wiping phone

I am having a lot of issues with my 4s. There are a lot of settings that I've and a a lot of applications that have been installed and uninstalled.

I have several text messages that I would like to keep. Is there a way to completely wipe the phone and keep the text messages? Or at least back up just text messages.

Yes, get PhoneView from ecamm.com and back up what you want to save like text messages, photos, call logs and a lot more.

Then back up the iPhone, in case you change your mind. Restore the phone to factory settings, but stop before it syncs with the back up. If you still want to start from scratch set the iPhone up as a new device with a new name and profile.

That you use Windows, would have helped. Maybe one of the other Windows uses can help with an app to save your Text Messages.

You need to give us that kind of info up front. Especially on a cross platform list like this.

I too, am a Windows user, so when I saw that the first app was Mac only, I
read on. It talks of an app called "TouchCopy" for Windows users. Here is
the URL:
http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/compatibility.php?devicesel=iPhon
e%204 I haven't installed it yet, but I think I will.

Sync iTunes to iPhone using iCloud

Posted by: "Norma Steele" noearthspam@gmail.com   nosteele

Thu May 31, 2012 1:37 pm (PDT)

I am using the latest iTunes version on my Mac with OS Snow Leopard syncing
to my iPhone and other computers using iCloud. I have created music
playlists on my Mac iTunes that don't seem to be syncing to my iPhone nor
to my office PC iTunes.

Both my office PC iTunes and iPhone is set with iTunes Match on and Show
Music Not on this Computer yet I cannot see the playlist I just created.

Is there a a setting that I am missing? How does one go about getting
their playlists onto other media?

If you installed the Find My Iphone app, you can do it via that . You can
also call your phone company and ask them to do it, they may ask for your
phone's serial number and your account password.
