Go to Settings>General>Auto-Lock & see where you have that set. There isn't a time there that measures in seconds so you might also try rebooting the iPad by holding down the Sleep/Wake & Home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears on your screen.

I successfully connected my HP Photosmart D5360 inkjet printer to the LAN using the Linksys PSUS4 print server. This print server is officially discontinued but is still available:

<http://www.amazon.com/Cisco-Linksys-PSUS4-PrintServer-Port-Switch/dp/B0000DF2LT/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1355251040&sr=1-1&keywords=psus4>

While, as Randy recommends, the latest version of Apple Airport Express is probably the best choice for Mac owners wanting to do this, the PSUS4 does the job.

I found mine on CraigsList for $10.

This is the printer-compatibility list from Cisco's web site for the PSUS4:

<http://homekb.cisco.com/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?pid=80&login=1&app=search&vw=1&articleid=16800&donelr=1>

While not complete (some models related to those on the list may still work), it's a good starting point.

There are limitations with the PSUS4: the utility to check ink levels and clean the print head doesn't work -- you'll have to connect directly using USB if you need to do this. But all forms of printing work as expected.

Setting up the server was straightforward: choose a fixed IP address for the server and enter it via the web interface; install the driver (for protocol, use the JetDirect Socket option; enter the IP address you configured in the PSUS4; for Queue use "L1"), and hook up the printer & LAN cables.

The key to setting it up for Macs is to disable AppleTalk and NetBEUI features. These are for some reason buggy with Mac print jobs sent to it. If you need AppleTalk or NetBEUI support I'd suggest another solution.

Just in case someone has a PSUS4 sitting around collecting dust and would like to find a way to use it with Macs, there you go!

Happy Holidays,
Dave

By the way, the PSUS4 doesn't support other features (scan, fax, etc.) of USB printers.

Sorry to bother you with something so seemingly trivial, but I'm trying to make a new mail box on my new iPad. The manual says "tap edit when viewing the mailbox list".

Evidently I'm missing something, as I do not see an "edit" icon or the familiar little gray box with "edit" in it.

Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Thank you,
Tim

If you tap on Inbox (in your message window, I think), you will open your Mailboxes side bar. Edit is on the top right in that sidebar - whatever you call it.

When I tap "edit" I am presented with a search window. What do you suppose I am missing?

I think you are in one of your mail boxes rather than viewing all of your mailboxes.

The left side of the screen is a list of Mailboxes, the right 2/3rds is a mail message.

If I tap (or double-tap) on a mail box, that mailbox is opened. If there is a message in the box and I tap on "edit" I get the search window.

I know when all is said and done this will be simple, I just don't see it!

Searching for images larger than certain sizes used to be very easy in Google. A few weeks back they changed it to search in two to three clicks, small, medium, and large, unbelievably.

Today I noticed that search for sizes greater than 2MB is available now. If anyone can figure out how to make this default, please post how. Leaving the site resets to simple searches.
