It will not be a bootable backup. So make a installer image of Lion to rebuild the system. But all USER data you point to will back up. Occasionally, if the backup versions fill your backup HD it will delete all versions except enough to fit on the backup hd, sometimes only the most recent backup.
Carbon Copy Cloner makes bootable backups, but I don't use it. The OSX system is easy to install.

Does that mean if I no longer have the original disks and serial # I can't recover them?

Rule One: Have a removable copy of your system installer somewhere for emergencies. Rule Two: Unless you like gambling, always backup your computer data somewhere away from your computer hard drive. But that's only if you don't gamble.
Apple sold me a replacement Snow Leopard DVD for $17, but I had to show proof of ownership. Otherwise you can buy a new system over the internet and download it at full price, or there is Ebay, but there aren't many discounts on system installers, most are full price.

It is ALWAYS a gamble, but one with varying risks and event likelihoods.

Howdy and Merry.
Yum. Having shrimp roumalade.
Yup. You can copy music, or other kinds of files to a USB flash/thumb
drive. However, you can't "burn" one as an Audio CD so the flash drive
would be like a data disc.

Glad you informed the list about Pahrump. We are 60 miles west--a direct line over Mt Charleston is only about 40 miles. Happy New Year!

I have a dual G5 PowerMac running Tiger. I just bought an internal 3 TB Hard drive. I thought I would be able to use it. Should it work?? Will I have to do something to make it work? I am having some problems installing Tiger on it. I am sure I forgot some important details but at 5:30 am I can't think of anything else that would be important
Thank you
David
