Thanks, Dane. I guess I'm partway there. I forgot that I had LR 3, which I've never yet used (bought it cheaply at release of LR4). I've imported one folder of files and clicked on Metadata, which produced columns of Date, Camera, Lens, and Label, but can't find the Edit function to make the change. Maybe the layout is different in R3?

Ah, you're clicking on the metadata filter. I should've been more clear that you want the metadata menu…

You can select a URL in the address bar using command L, so you can quickly
copy using command L then command C.

I found a Safari extension that works with 5.1.7, not sure about newer versions. It's called Coda Notes by Panic.

It does just what I want and even lets one draw on a page: <http://www.panic.com/blog/2010/06/coda-notes-previe/>

Direct download: <http://panic.com/codanotes/CodaNotes.safariextz>

I also found one for Chrome called Notes anywhere and attaches a sticky not to almost any website: <https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/note-anywhere/bohahkiiknkelflnjjlipnaeapefmjbh>

Thanks for the suggestion Dan but already did that.
It was the Genius Bar that told me I needed to replace it (they did test for that nVidia defect) and that it would cost me $300-$400 to ship it wherever and to fix it. I just don't have that kind of $$. Spent it all on my iMac a few months ago.

Thanks again though.
Happy Holidays.

Jeff

Jeff,
The Genius Bar person simply repeated the Company Line that it won't be a free repair.

I think many here would suggest that you call Apple support and ask to speak to a senior support person (only a senior representative at Apple HQ has the authority to say "yes" under these circumstances). Explain that the problem is only a few weeks past the program's deadline and that you would consider it fair and "the right thing to do" to perform the repair to your laptop under the program.

Stranger things have happened...

Good luck,
Dave
