Former filmmakers and 3D animators with no development experience used Kwik to develop Zala and the Treasure Cave.
Zala and the Treasure Cave invites children to participate in Zala and her friends� adventures through learning games, which are seamlessly woven between animation shorts to narrate the story. Families can relax and immerse themselves in the book, which does not contain any advertisements, in-app purchase items, or links to outside web sites. The app already has been awarded Corona Labs� App of the Week and Kwiksher�s App of the Month honors.
With decades of experience in film and 3D animation but none in app development, the LogiTales creative studio built Zala and the Treasure Cave app by using Kwik, a Photoshop plugin which allow anyone to design mobile apps from inside Adobe�s image editor. Founded in 2011, Kwiksher is a Florida-based, independent software company. Based in a strong blend of design and development skills, Kwiksher's mission is to craft elegant, easy-to-use applications for the iOS and Android platforms.
�Without Kwik I could never have realized Zala because none of us had any experience in coding,� said Nuriza Kramer, creative director at LogiTales. �Kwik allowed us to bring our vision to life by utilizing skills that we already possessed. So, none of our experience went to waste!�

In his 1981 paper, Stanley J. Since the system in question may be extremely complex, the basic assumptions of the modeler may be vague guesses at best. It is not surprising that many of the results in these areas are vague, ambiguous, and extremely qualitative in nature.
"It was for this reason that in the mid 1960's the Ukrainian mathematician and cyberneticist, A.G. Ivakhnenko, introduced a method that allows the researcher to build models of complex systems without making assumptions about the internal workings. The idea is to have the computer construct a model of optimal complexity based only on data and not on any preconceived ideas of the researcher; that is, by knowing only simple input-output relationships of the system, Ivakhnenko's GMDH algorithm will construct a self-organizing model that can be used to solve prediction, identification, control synthesis, and other system problems."
Frank Lemke, President of KnowledgeMiner Software, provides a more detailed analysis, "Ivakhnenko introduced the idea of external information into modeling by subdividing a dataset into training and testing data sets for model evaluation, and he initiated and headed the development of a noise immunity theory for modeling, which is key and still unique in data mining to allow true knowledge extraction from data by inductively, systematically, and automatically evolving an optimal complex model by employing parameter and structure identification. In this way, the basic problem in experimental systems analysis of avoiding models that fit to data by chance, and therefore have bad descriptive and predictive power, has been solved."
Today, self-organizing inductive modeling is a proven and highly efficient knowledge extraction technology. It is available in the Insights app, which is the only implementation of advanced GMDH algorithms for Mac OS X. Recent advances in research and development have made possible parallel implementations, multi-level self-organization for modeling high-dimensional data sets containing many thousands of input variables, cost-sensitive modeling, and new model evaluation techniques to improve the reliability and applicability of models. The software has been employed successfully in various fields, from image recognition over biomarker detection and QSAR modeling, wastewater management and reuse questions, to Global Warming and micro and macro-economic forecasting problems.

New York, New York - Camp Haverim at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, Guttenberg Center for Special Services, a summer camp for special needs children and teens ranging from ages 3-21, used iPads as part of the curriculum for the first time this summer. NameGames, an educational app for iOS and Android devices that strengthens relationships by teaching children the names and faces of their family, friends, classmates and teachers, was selected as the featured app.
For many individuals with developmental disabilities, processing may be delayed and piecing together the world they live in can be more challenging. For visual thinkers, pictures provide a way to communicate that makes sense. NameGames uses real-life pictures paired with familiar audio cues allowing the child to learn from concrete examples, while being respectful of their unique learning style. The app provides the skills they need to improve their facial recognition and gives them an opportunity to be a participant in their families and community.
"Pictures can be key to working with individuals with Autism as well as other developmental disabilities. NameGames gives these children an opportunity to recognize people and expressions in a valuable way and fosters the skills they need to connect the pictures with the closest people in their lives and build relationships by engaging with them in a more meaningful way. This is essential to helping them climb the developmental ladder and gain the tools they need to navigate a very complicated world." says Andrea Albert, Program Coordinator at 3L Place, a program in Somerville, MA for young adults with developmental disabilities.
Camp Haverim staff and volunteers saw the app's benefits extend far beyond facial recognition into social and communication skills as well. "Sharing and cooperative play evolved organically," stated Shelley Levy, director of Camp Haverim and all special programs at the Jewish Community Center on the Palisades. "The more social campers took pride in helping the less verbal kids play with the app. The activity also reinforced 'time on task', keeping the campers engaged with positive reinforcement and cooperation."
The app helped the children step outside of their comfort zone. "One of the less vocal campers was yelling out the names of his fellow campers after playing with NameGames for just 15 minutes," said one volunteers describing a camper's progress.
NameGames was crafted by PhDs in Cognitive Psychology and the Learning Sciences who specialize in creating developmentally appropriate technology. Using images of people and objects that the child interacts with in the real world, NameGames accelerates the development of important learning skills in a fun, entertaining environment. NameGames is a wonderful tool for helping people with autism. Familiarizing children with their loved ones fosters positive interactions, which are the seeds of strong, meaningful relationships.

At that time, this fun iPad game could be played in both English and French. The version 1.1 update, available today, now brings German and Spanish language support to the game. This update also includes expanded Help allowing new players to quickly learn to play and begin enjoying the game.
Puffer Train Loader HD supports both a shared game mode, letting you play with a friend, and a 1-on-1 mode where you match your box loading skills against a computer opponent. This casual iPad game was inspired by our love of the classic game "Dots & Boxes" and development of the iOS App began following several rousing games played on a restaurant kid's menu while waiting for dinner. Game play is simple - yet challenging. New Lines must be built from existing Dots. Lines are added to the game board by touching between two Dots. The player whose line completes a box adds that box to their game total. As each board is completed, and the train car filled, the player building the most boxes wins!

When we premiered Puffer Train Loader HD at the Seattle Indies Expo, we were surprised by a theme we heard over and over again from grown adults and hard-core gamers alike. When they saw the game running we heard, "Oh! I know this game. I played it when I was a kid. I love This Game!" We created Puffer Train Loader HD as a Free game with no Ads and no in-App purchases to allow anyone with an iPad the ability to recreate the sheer joy of childhood game play once again, and perhaps share that joy they remember with the kids in their life.
Puffer Train Loader HD contains a 5x5 game board that can be played with a friend or against a computer opponent. The 5x5 board provides larger Lines and Dots making easier game play for little fingers. There is also a 7x7 game board where players will find their computer opponent to be a bit more challenging.
Puffer Train Loader HD Pro:
We created an extended version of our game, Puffer Train Loader HD Pro, for players who want even more game challenges! The extended version provides all of the game play of Puffer Train Loader HD, plus adds the ability for up to 4 players to share a game together on a 7x7 game board. The Pro version also provides 12 "challenge games" - each one a partially finished game board that can be completed either with friends or while playing against the computer. Additionally the Pro version allows you to adjust your computer opponent's skill to different levels for every game - with levels ranging from easy to expert. This feature provides hours of challenging game play for players of all skill levels.
