My computer is an iMac, Model identifier 7,1, OS 10.6.8, 2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Memory. My printer is an Epson Styus Photo R320 inkjet. I have had it for 6-7 years. It has been working fine until the other day.

I was printing the odd pages from a PDF document, when it started skipping 3-4 pages at a time. It didn't seem to be a paper feed problem at all. Then it just stopped printing and would not show a picture of my chosen page in the print selections menu. It just showed a blank page. The Job Info gives the following information for each page I try to print now:
Status error: /Library/Printers/EPSON/Ink....

Application: Preview
JobMessage:/Library/Printers/EPSON/rastertoescpll.app/Contents/MacOS/rastertoescpll failed

I repaired permissions with Disk Utility, installed the newest Adobe Acrobat, also re-installed the appropriate Epson drivers. I read about "rastertoescpll" on online forums and sites and became more confused. It still won't print but now shows a picture of the page I chose to print.

In my Applications, Utilities, and System Folders, it never shows Library/Printers/EPSON. When it does show EPSON it is about scanning (which our Epson Artisan 810 does). I can't understand what is causing this problem. I sure would appreciate any help as I need to use my printer every day. Thanks for reading all of this.

Have you unplugged it for a few minutes then restarted again?

Have you tried removing it and re-adding it to the list of printers in Preferences?

For a year or more now, iDevices with the then-current version of iOS did not require a computer for anything. They could upgrade the iOS and backup the device over the air.

But if you chose to upgrade via iTunes on your computer -- because 700 MB may tie your phone up for hours -- you would generally need to bring your version of iTunes on the computer current first.

Only true if you don't have an iOS device.

On my iMac there is an Ethernet port. I have a second monitor with a Ethernet port. I have my router connected to the port on the iMac and the monitor port is empty.

Can both port be used?

Any advantage to using both?

Any disadvantage to using both?

Are you sure the port on the monitor is ethernet? It's more likely to be
HDMI, DisplayPort, or DVI.

Yes!

Apple specs page:
Three powered USB 2.0 ports
FireWire 800
Gigabit Ethernet port
Thunderbolt port

Jim,

We have a misunderstanding. Yes, of course the iMac has an ethernet port,
but you are talking about a "second monitor".

It sounds to me as if more information is needed here. That description would fit the ports on an iMac, but they are, of course on the monitor of the iMac, just as is everything but the keyboard and mouse. It's more appropriate to say the ports are on the computer than on the monitor. The real question is what is the second "monitor"? Is it a Samsung monitor, a Dell monitor, another iMac, or what? If it's a true stand-alone monitor I think it is unlikely that it has an ethernet port.

Yes, you do, Otto.
Jim's description seems to be Apple's 27" Thunderbolt Display.

The computer must be connected to the monitor via the Thunderbolt port, but then anything attached to the USB, Firewire, or Ethernet ports on the monitor will be transmitted to the computer over that Thunderbolt connection. I don't know what, exactly, I would do with a second ethernet port, myself....

I did a backup of my iPhone 4s the day before upgrading to a 5s. Although all my other stuff (contacts, calendars, etc.) from the 4s ended up being moved to the 5s, the 5s has no messages other than ones that have come in since the upgrade. On the 4s, which has not been wiped yet, the messages still exist.

Any way to get them added to the 5s?

Thanks,
...............Mike

that looks like an apple product, and probably arrived along with some apple device, but I'm not sure.

At any rate, one end is a standard USB connector (male - the kind that plugs into a computer). The cable is about 2.5 feet long. At the other end, also marked with a USB symbol, is a female connector that looked similar to, but not quite the same as a regular USB connector.

However, someone plugged it together end to end, and now it cannot be unplugged without destroying it.

Any idea what this might have been a part of originally?

tnx
