Howdy.

To close any app on any iDevice just press the Home button once which
is how it has always been done.

A double-press of the Home button in iOS 7 brings up the new
multitasking screen.

Pull down the top wind shade for the enhanced Notifications screen.

Pull up the bottom window shade for the new Control Center feature.

Pull down the regular screen (not the top window shade) for the
Spotlight Search feature.

Dadgum! P Smith.

I hadn't figured that out yet!

No, that doesn't close the app, just sends it to the background.

To really close it you have to do what has been described in this thread already. Hit the home button twice then either swipe the app to the top of the screen, for iOS7, or for older versions hold the app icon until it starts jiggling, the hit its x button.

Dan, I think you need to re-think that. The effect of pressing the Home Button once varies depending on what you're in the middle of, but as far as I am aware, it will NEVER close an app.

Correct. And it is from the multitasking screen that one closes apps, by swiping upwards on the app in question.

Good stuff ... except that a single press of the Home button pauses an app
(puts it the background). It does not close/quit the app.

Howdy.

The apps all seemed to close for me with a one press on the Home button
since my first iPhone 3G.

What have I been missing?

. . . . . Hummm? Just doing some reading.

Apparently I have missed this feature for YEARS!

Maybe for Arizona (assuming it is that Prescott), but I'm sure it would be warm for Minnesota :-)

How are you all updating to iOS 7? My iPhone 5 (OS 6.1.4) tell me that my software is up to date. How are you all getting iOS 7?

Have you done the iTunes update (assuming you are trying to update through that and not the cloud)? Someone told me that the older version of iTunes knows nothing about iOS-7, so you first have to upgrade iTunes. I myself have an older device that cannot get past iOS-5, so I can't test it.

Just the same sort of ways as previous updates .. See for example

Howdy.

Connect the USB cable that came with the iPhone to your Mac. iTunes
should launch. Use the Update button.

Recommend doing a full backup first and doing the Update 2nd.

Apparently the page to which the original link connected has been
taken down. I did a Google search on the full title, "14 Mac
Hacks That Will Change The Way You Use Your Computer," and found
links to numerous other websites. Below appears to be the

Repair your disk permission using Disk utility twice or thrice. Then Quit
