Apple hiring genre experts to curate music for iTunes Radio stations Posted: 17 Sep 2013 01:23 PM PDT Alongside iOS 7, Apple will also be launching its new streaming music service iTunes Radio this week. The move will signal the company’s most significant in the digital music space since it first introduced the iTunes Store back in 2003. Record labels, advertisers, and many others in the industry are betting big on Apple’s radio service, which promises to help users discover and purchase new music. And today, CNET shares new details regarding Apple’s efforts on that front…(...) "Apple hiring genre experts to curate music for iTunes Radio stations" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
TapeACall Pro review: record phone conversations on your iPhone Posted: 17 Sep 2013 01:08 PM PDT I record telephone conversations a lot. It is part of my business as a media writer. I regularly interview people for stories and oftentimes, they don't live anywhere near me, so I record the interview over the phone. Normally, I use a 10-year-old digital recorder connected to an adapter that is connected to my landline. I've always wanted to be able to use my iPhone for interviews. TapeACall Pro lets you record your telephone conversations on your iPhone and share your audio files through Dropbox, Evernote, and more. Just be sure to tell the person you are talking to that you are recording the conversation. It’s the law…(...) Poll: what iPhone 5c color would you pick? Posted: 17 Sep 2013 10:27 AM PDT Haters are unapologetically disparaging Apple’s iPhone 5c as an old iPhone 5 dressed up in some fancy colors. There’s nothing wrong with that, mind you. At the same time, the device appears to be quickly selling out pretty much everywhere, from the United States to China. Prudent watchers are wise to warn against underestimating the power of the color in marketing, even more so with the world’s greatest marketing machine pitching the colorized iPhone 5c. We’ve already asked you whether you’ll be getting an iPhone 5s or 5c and now we zero in on the colorful iPhone 5c. So, which iPhone 5c color are you?(...) Video: Burberry London fashion show, shot entirely with an iPhone 5s Posted: 17 Sep 2013 09:51 AM PDT Burberry and Apple announced last week that the fashion retailer will be exclusively using the iPhone 5s to film a fashion show that’s currently underway in London and take images of the runway, beauty looks, product details and backstage moments. A nice promo tie-in is meant to associate the aspirational Apple brand with high fashion. Burberry on Tuesday published the full video of the event, "shot exclusively on iPhone 5s”. The video runs fifteen minutes long and is available in its entirety right past the fold…(...) App Store now lets you grab the last compatible app version on legacy devices Posted: 17 Sep 2013 08:50 AM PDT Apple has updated the App Store backend to allow for legacy app downloads, per tips we received this morning and this Reddit thread. Starting today, trying to grab an app on the App Store from one of the unsupported iOS devices now presents users with a prompt offering to download the last compatible version available for their legacy hardware. Previously, a developer posting a new app build would render older versions unavailable on the App Store. This improvement should be especially useful after iOS 7 arrives on Wednesday as owners of unsupported devices are now permitted to access the last compatible build on their outdated device…(...) Apple exploring iPhone ‘life events’ to automatically adjust your settings Posted: 17 Sep 2013 08:14 AM PDT Are you tired of turning off your ringer when entering a library, or sending all calls to voicemail when attending church or driving? While there are some manual methods for disabling these iPhone features, a new patent granted Apple outlines ways your ‘life events’ could automatically adjust your handset, based on location, time and more. Titled ‘Event-based modes for electronic devices,’ the patent published Tuesday by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office illustrates how your iPhone could automatically disable or enable features depending on your calendar, location, usage trends – even ambient sounds…(...) First iPhone 5c/5s unboxing video and photos arrive Posted: 17 Sep 2013 07:33 AM PDT With less than three days left until the iPhone 5s/5c general availability, Apple this morning posted a reminder that both handsets are scheduled to go on sale on Friday, September 20 at 8:00am local time at Apple retail stores and at 12:01am PDT at the online Apple Store in the United States, United kingdom, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico and Singapore. The company promised to release iOS 7 for public consumption on Wednesday so we think first iOS 7 and iPhone 5s/5c reviews will be hitting the web real soon. In the meantime, folks who pre-ordered Apple’s cases for the new iPhones have reported receiving their shipment early. And over in China, a few lucky customers who seem to have gotten their hands on the first iPhone 5s and 5c units posted photographic and video evidence of the unboxing as proof…(...) Amazon Instant Video iOS app now does AirPlay Posted: 17 Sep 2013 07:00 AM PDT Amazon released its Instant Video client for the iPhone and iPad in August 2012 as a way for Apple customers to access its growing library of movies and television shows from their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. The online retail giant hasn’t been updating the software much, apart from June’s update with visual tweaks and personal recommendations for movies and television shows based on your past viewing habits. My biggest gripe with any type of software that does video is the absence of AirPlay streaming support. If you get your entertainment from Amazon, you should update your Amazon Instant Video installation to the latest version which not only enables Apple’s AirPlay technology, but also includes a few other nice-to-haves…(...) Apple (again) announces iPhone 5s/5c go on sale on Friday Posted: 17 Sep 2013 06:42 AM PDT It may not be the press release Wall Street has been keeping its fingers crossed for, but Apple in a newly published media statement on Tuesday nevertheless reminded us that the new iPhone 5s and 5c are scheduled to go on sale on Friday, September 20 at 8:00am local time at Apple retail stores and at 12:01am PDT at the online Apple Store. Both handsets will be available from day one in the United States, United kingdom, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico Singapore and – for the first time – in China, where Apple used to deliver new iPhones months after they’d launched in the United States…(...) Missing iPhone 5c presale announcement causing Wall Street worries Posted: 17 Sep 2013 05:50 AM PDT It doesn’t take much to spook investors. For instance, concern over Apple’s silence on iPhone 5c presale numbers prompted a 2.5 percent dip in the Cupertino, Calif. company’s stock Monday. At issue is whether a lack of a preorder announcement signals less demand for the inexpensive iPhone or supply problems for the flagship iPhone 5s. Although Apple didn’t announce presale figures for the first iPhone, the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS, starting with the iPhone 4 the company has issued a press release touting a newly-broken presale number. Is Apple just waiting until sales of the iPhone 5s (which isn’t available for preorder) launches to make an announcement for both iPhones? One answer could come from China, where a carrier yesterday announced how many of the new iPhones have already been reserved…(...) Top 10 endless runner games for iOS Posted: 17 Sep 2013 05:00 AM PDT These days, it seems like runner games are a dime a dozen. I guess it is more like they are about $20 a dozen since they are usually between one and three dollars a piece. There are so many auto-run till you die games that it is difficult to know which are the best. Apple has a list of their favorite "Fun Runner" games, but even that list is too big. We've narrowed down a list of our favorites, plus added a couple that Apple didn't think to include…(...) "Top 10 endless runner games for iOS" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Shake App makes your agreements binding Posted: 17 Sep 2013 04:00 AM PDT I'm a freelancer. If I don't sign an agreement with someone, I am risking the possibility of losing any income I've earned. If I have a disagreement with a business over payment, and I don't have anything in writing to prove the arrangement, I have nothing to support me if I end up having to go to court. Shake App makes it possible to create a binding agreement for all kinds of arrangements. It doesn't have to be complex and full of legalese to be legal…(...) Apple begins taking iPhone 5s reservations in China, most models already sold out Posted: 17 Sep 2013 02:13 AM PDT Apple took some criticism yesterday for not announcing any iPhone 5c sales numbers from its pre-order launch weekend. Many pundits took the PR silence as a sign that the plastic handset isn’t selling very well. But that doesn’t seem to be the case with the company’s flagship iPhone 5s. The phone just became available for advanced reservation in Hong Kong and mainland China, and several models have already sold out…(...) The update includes a number of new features, like AirDrop and Control Center, as well as an all-new UI design. But there’s one big change coming in iOS 7 that continues to fly under the radar, and that’s support for third-party game controllers. In fact, it’s been discovered that Apple is already approving games with controller support…(...) "Apple approving games with iOS 7 controller support" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
How to create blank folder names, no jailbreak required Posted: 16 Sep 2013 08:11 PM PDT Even if you don’t like coffee, you still might fancy downloading the official Starbucks app. That’s because it allows you to create blank folder names on a non-jailbroken device. I know, that sounds weird, but hear me out. Whenever you use the Starbucks app to create a folder, the folder name is completely empty, and you can save it like that on your Home screen. Normally, at least on non-jailbroken devices, you’re not able to create a folder without a name. Even if you ‘x’ out the name, or try to use spaces for the name, iOS forces you to use the original name of the folder. That is, of course, unless you try out this bizarre little trick. Check out our video showing how it works inside.(...) "How to create blank folder names, no jailbreak required" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Apple airs new ‘Plastic Perfected’ iPhone 5c ad Posted: 16 Sep 2013 07:37 PM PDT Apple has aired a new ad tonight for its all-new iPhone 5c handset. The spot is entitled ‘Plastic Perfected,’ and it focuses on the device’s bright colors and the polycarbonate material used to make its outer casing. The commercial is a significant departure from Apple’s recent TV adverts, as it features no dialogue or voiceover. All you hear is a catchy song play in the background as you watch liquid morph into the iPhone 5c…(...) "Apple airs new ‘Plastic Perfected’ iPhone 5c ad" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
