I have a new 15" Macbook Pro retina display. I want to set a cable between it and my prevous MacBook Pro s that the old MacBook is seen as a source drive from which drag files over. How ca I do that; what do I need? The new has two Thnderbolt and two USB 3.0 ports, no Firewire

You can do it without buying additional adapters, using USB.
You can do it using a Thunderbolt to FW adapter or a Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter. I did it with the former; worked just fine.

The same thing has just happened to me; my MacPro (10.6.8) was taking 21 seconds to go to sleep.
This problem came on after downloading a largeish application (2.55 GB). That application worked as it should and so did everything else, save that the computer took a long time to go to sleep.
I think what probably happens during a large installation is that the libraries associated with the application are grouped close to it physically on the hard disk (the optimisation phase) which probably involves moving quite a lot of other stuff to make room for the new. Hence when sleep is invoked the computer takes quite some time to find the things it needs to find before sleeping.
In my case running YASU cured the problem and the computer once again goes to sleep as soon as the finger leaves the button.
For details on YASU please see Randy Singers invaluable pages at <www.macattorney.

Hi, Forrest. My husband installed the Flash and Dir TV I have removed
Flash Player. But it is still showing up in the Sys Prefs under Other. How
can I delete the Flash Player? Or is Flash something which is necessary.
I cannot find the Dir TV app it's not under Utilities either. Even with
the Find Apps, or Find DMG I cannot locate it. The DMG is plainly visible in
the downloads folder and Jack claims he installed it that's when the
issues coincidentally occurred regarding the sleep mode.
That being said, I have repaired permissions again, restarted, and I have
another issue. Safari keeps opening at start up. This never happened til the
sleep mode issue. Also, when the iMac restarts, Safari automatically opens
to a once-visited web page which is NOT the selected web page. After the
initial start up, Safari opens to the correct page. I have not selected
Safari to open at start up. Is it possible that the website has caused an
issue? this is the address:
http://debbiedesigns.typepad.com/
Will OSX automatically bring up a problem area at start up like this? It
"quits" and "restarts" normally, but the sleep mode still takes about 20-30
seconds. I may have to phone Apple Care not usually a fun process.
In answer to your question about the Energy Saver, it's the same
15 minutes to sleep, and the first 4 items are selecte (not the start up
automatically after a power failure)
Thanks for taking time to try to help me.
Donna
