Weird bug adds ‘praises the iPad’ at the end of Google queries Posted: 05 Jan 2013 03:16 PM PST The rivalry between Apple and Google is arguably one of the biggest in the tech world, maybe even the world in general. The two companies are constantly fighting each other for smartphone and tablet marketshare, and they both have legions of loyal fans. That’s what makes this next story so amusing. A new bug has been discovered in the Google Now and Translate apps that show Apple a bit more love than you’d expect from a rival. Enter the right queries, and both apps will, oddly enough, ”praise the iPad.”(...) "Weird bug adds ‘praises the iPad’ at the end of Google queries" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
iHome to debut new Lightning audio docks at CES Posted: 05 Jan 2013 08:00 AM PST As most of you know, iDB will be at The Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas next week. And though Apple itself won’t be there, there will be tons of iOS-flavored products and peripherals worth reading about. Take these new Lightning-compatible audio docks from iHome, for example…(...) Improve your food iPhoneography with the Camera+ white balance lock Posted: 05 Jan 2013 07:00 AM PST If you remember our last lesson in iPhone Photography, we learned a bit about white balance and how to control it using KitCam. In that lesson I mentioned using Camera+ as an app to control white balance. I thought in today’s lesson we would extend our understanding and take a look at Camera+’s way. In our last lesson, we looked at controlling white balance by setting the appropriate light source that was illuminating the scene (i.e. sunlight, fluorescent light, incandescent light, etc…) . With Camera+ we do it a little differently…(...) "Improve your food iPhoneography with the Camera+ white balance lock" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Burglary at Microsoft research campus, only iPads taken Posted: 05 Jan 2013 05:30 AM PST Here’s a funny little story for your Saturday morning. A report popped up yesterday that Microsoft communicated to police earlier this week that there had been a burglary in one of the buildings on its campus in Mountain View, California. The thief, or thieves, broke into 3 offices in Building 5 on the campus between December 19 and 26, when most folks were gone for the holidays. And — here’s the funny part — despite all of the gadgets laying around, only iPads were taken…(...) "Burglary at Microsoft research campus, only iPads taken" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Despite workarounds, Apple still paid $6 billion in U.S. taxes last year Posted: 05 Jan 2013 04:30 AM PST Earlier this year, The New York Times wrote a piece on the different methods Apple uses to sidestep “billions in corporate taxes.” Like other articles in the publication’s iEconomy series, it painted the Cupertino company in a not-so-favorable light. But despite the workarounds, Apple says it still pays a significant amount in income taxes. According to a recent statement, it paid over $6 billion in US taxes during its fiscal 2012, accounting for $1 out of every $40 collected from corporations…(...) Packing gear, gadgets, and survival items for CES Posted: 05 Jan 2013 04:00 AM PST As we mentioned previously, 2013 CES will be the largest trade show of its kind, with a massive show floor of 1.86 million square feet and spanning the Las Vegas Convention Center, plus three additional hotels and conference centers. Lucky for me, I am headed on my first religious pilgrimage to this largest of large conferences and the next planning step is packing. But, what to pack to help me survive the war zone that is the CES show room floor? Check inside for a long list of gadgets, gear, and survival items I’ll be bringing along for the ride…(...) Gorgeous iPhone 6 concept based on new iPod nano design Posted: 05 Jan 2013 02:25 AM PST Though Apple is believed to have sold in upwards of 50 million iPhones last quarter, there are still many critics out there that believe both the handset, and the software it runs, are getting a bit long in the tooth. This is why we continue to see concepts for new iPhones and iOS features with refreshed designs. In fact, a new one popped up yesterday that gives the smartphone an all new look à la the 7th gen iPod nano… (...) Planetbeing says he has an iOS 6.0.2 untethered jailbreak now, but we must be patient Posted: 04 Jan 2013 08:55 PM PST iOS hacker Planetbeing posted on Reddit earlier today about the status of the iPhone 5/iOS 6 untethered jailbreak. While there have been many messages regarding the viability of a jailbreak, the famous iOS hacker insists that it’s only a matter of time before a jailbreak is a reality. In other words, we need to be patient while the guys who have proven themselves time and time again put in work… (...)
