Help. I need an older version of iPhoto.

OK - so I thought I'd be clever. My wife (Macbook Air w/Snow Leopard) wants to see all the pics too. Can you imagine that?! So I took the iPhoto library and put it on a disk that's plugged into the Airport Extreme router. She can see it, I can see it.

When she launched her iPhoto and pointed it to the new library, it took several hours to "upgrade" the library. Turns out she has a more recent version of iPhoto than I. But - voila, it's working and all is good.

Then when I tried to do the same on my Macbook (w/Lion and the older version of iPhoto), I get a message that the iPhoto library was created by a newer version of iPhoto, so "you gotta upgrade". So... I go to the Apple site and upgrade. Now I'm running iPhoto 9.4.2 and I'm thinking all is good. I open iPhoto, take a poke around and everything is working fine.

So now I go back to my wife's computer and try to open it and - guess what? Same deal! "This iPhoto library was created by a newer version, so you gotta upgrade." Bummer! So I go to the Apple website and try to upgrade her iPhoto but I CAN'T!! because she's running Snow Leopard and would have to upgrade the OS first. She has an Air and can't install more than the present 2GB memory, so now we're hosed!

Can I downgrade my iPhoto version to hers? (9.2.3) Where would I get that file?

...forgot to mention - I have the original iPhoto library (un-upgraded).

I don't think that will help you. Typically, when you update your iPhoto library so that it works with the newest version of the application, you'll get an onscreen dialog that says once the library is upgraded it cannot be used with older versions of the program.

So if that's the case, if you have a Time Machine backup, you should HAVE the older version of the application, but your question suggests you don't. You might try calling Apple...

System Prefs/Sharing/On
Add the iPhoto Library to the SHARED list.
You are authorizing others to READ, or Read and Write to your library.
I suggest READ ONLY. Then set up sign in access over your network.

You seem to have copied the entire library to their HD. Don't.
Just share "Read" access over a network.

But this way, only one person can view the library at one time.

There are multiple ways to share the library. I suggest the above
for less trouble.

Is the ability to add the iPhoto Library to the SHARED list a Mountain Lion feature? I'm running Lion, and my shared list is a fixed list of checkbox items to share but no option to add anything custom to the list.

The Pictures folder is the choice. I'm running iPhoto9 in SL.

Hi all,
Tried to make a card with my Hallmark card application and got an error saying network failure need to be connected to the internet to see thumb nails.
I have never had to be connected to the internet before to be connected.
I connected and got the same error message.
Decided to go into the app store and check my previous purchases because I was going to delete the application and restore it.
But by mistake I clicked on the x in the previous purcases and do not know how to undo it.(deleted the app from purchases I think)

I paid 29$ for this app so am quite upset. I deleted it from the computer and when I go back to my purchased in the app store it shows as if I never purchased it so I got it back from the trash and I get the same error.
I tried doing a time machine restore but that didn't work either.
Any ideas on what to do would be most helpful
Thank you
Barbara from Montreal
I am running snow leopard on 10.6.8 , 4gb memory on laptop

Have you tried support from the developer?

I do have POP Mail service and yes, I do store all my mail messages. It's a choice.

Smart Mailboxes has, for me, become marginally useful -- only for the current calendar year of messages.
