The book on Mtn Lion that I had added to Calibre in April last year was not readable as said it was protected by DRM. Today I removed that book and added back the book with same title that I still had in iTunes. Late last year I had downloaded requiem and opened that program. The program automatically searches your iTunes book library and removes the DRM from any (sending that book to trash) and leaving a DRM free edition in iTunes. This is the book I re-added to Calibre. Now that program can read the book very nicely.

It searched my OSX 10.8.3 iTunes library and errored off on many books. None were unlocked.

You could always use Air Server http://www.airserver.com to mirror your iPhone or iPad to your Mac. Great little app that I use all the time.

That's a neat idea, but won't run on an iPhone4. Will store the suggestion away if I ever upgrade.

I am trying to set up a mixed Ethernet and Wireless network. I have a Cable modem with 4 enet ports, an Airport Extreme with 4 enet connections and an enet hub.
I cannot get both the enet and wireless to work as a LAN and connect to the internet.
On the Airport utility I have it set:
Internet - connect using DHCP and nothing else filled in.
Wireless - has a name and a WPA personal password
Network - I'm not sure whether to use Off (Bridge Mode), DCHP & Nat or DCHP only
I need to connect a bunch of Macs and one XP computer to both the LAN and the Internet, all have Airport except the XP.
Help an thanks,
Bill

My DSL line connects to a DSL "modem" with enet and wireless capabilities. I have the wireless side turned off completely.
Ethernet cables run from it to a MacPro, to a Linux box, to the DISH network controller, and to my Dual-Band Airport Extreme Base Station.
The Airport connects via ethernet to a printer and a laptop (used mostly as a desktop).
The Airport Wifi serves 3 iPhones, 2 iPads, one Windows box, and sundry laptops.

OK. I have a couple of OpenDNS server IP's, but that's not necessary.

WPA2 here. Does the selector at the top say "Create a wireless network"?
> Network - I'm not sure whether to use Off (Bridge Mode), DCHP & Nat or DCHP only
Mine is "Off (Bridge Mode)" and the system described above seems to work just fine.

I access my Yahoo mail through my MacBook's Mail app. Lately it has been losing its way 3-5 times per HOUR, asking me for the password info. Can anyone suggest what might be causing this?

Mine is doing the same thing. I'm chalking it up to a Yahoo "hiccup" that will correct itself at some point.

Yahoo periodically does this with me too. Coincidentally it just happened as I was writing this message.
Instead of entering your password again, you might try clicking Cancel. That's what I just did and the next time Mail checked for new messages, Yahoo seemed to be satisfied.

I've installed Elements 9 and it does have a folder for plug-ins, so it does have that capability. I found an installation approach (drag and drop) to adding the plug-ins to its Plug-ins folder. The plug-ins do show up in the apprpriate folder, but when running Elements they do not appear in the Filters drop-down menu. I suspect that I may have encountered an issue of an incompatibility between the versions of Elements and the Windows or the plug-ins. It will be tough to run that down, because I only have one set of plug-ins, one version of Windows and two versions of Elements.
If I get this to work, I'll report that.
..........Mike
(BTW, the filters I'm trying to use are an FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) set, which can remove patterns from images scanned from textured paper. If anyone knows of a Mac version of FFT filters, please let me know.)

I think I'll remove the old version and install the newer one and see how that works re: plug-ins.

Canon MP970 all-in-one printer is having issues with the blacks:
1. Text pages print blank.
2. Color images print and black parts do print but but the shadows look "solarized". (At first I thougt this was maybe the driver assigning incorrect colors, but I now think this could due to a missing black.)
3. The test page prints but the "crosshatch" is missing (color is "photo black"). Each color normally has a band of color: there is a "black" one but not "photo black" associated with the crosshatch pattern. This is missing completely.
I have:
1. reset the printer's settings (via the printer's LCD display)
2. reinstalled the printer driver (after downloading it again)
3. replaced the black cartridges (black, photo black)
4. cleaned the heads
5. "deep cleaned" the heads
6. aligned the heads (manually and automatically)
7. run out of ideas.
This is (or was, not so long ago) a very expensive printer model. If it's broken, so be it. But if I'm missing something I'd like to know.
Ideas?
Thanks,
Dave
