i was able to do it this time! thanks guys. last time the dock wouldnt accept it, i think because i was drag-dropping it to the left of the dotted line with the apps like glenn said. but the dock accepted it to the right of the line beside the trash can. thanks agian!

Amba,
You can drag any file or folder from a Finder window to the Dock, but they can only go after the apps at the end, in their own special section. Could that be why it hasn't worked for you so far?
