Evasi0n 1.2 is out, disables OTA updates and fixes timezone bug Posted: 08 Feb 2013 04:40 PM PST The evad3rs have sure been busy this week. On Monday they released version 1.0 of their jailbreak utility, and on Wednesday they rolled out version 1.1 with fixes for the Weather app and long reboot bugs. Today, they’ve posted a second update to evasi0n, bringing it to version 1.2. The new update features built-in code to disable future OTA updates on your jailbroken device, and a fix for the timezone issue…(...) Hackers still have exploits for use in future jailbreaks Posted: 08 Feb 2013 04:35 PM PST On Wednesday, Apple seeded the first beta of iOS 6.1.1 to developers. It came just a few days after evasi0n was released to the public, so it was widely assumed that it had something to do with patching the new jailbreak. Pod2g has since squashed the theory, at least for now, reporting that the beta doesn’t mess with any of their exploits. But as it turns out, it wouldn’t matter if it did, because the evad3rs still have several of them in reserve…(...) iPhone 5S and 5-inch iPhone 6 reportedly spotted at Apple supplier Posted: 08 Feb 2013 04:25 PM PST The rumor mill has been on fire over the past 2 months with talk of Apple’s next-generation handsets. And so far there’s been 3 recurring theories: an iPhone 5S, a ‘budget’ iPhone for emerging markets, and an iPhone 6 with a larger 4.9-inch display. Well today we’re adding another point for the first and last theories. A new report out of China claims that both a familiar-looking iPhone 5S, and an all new iPhone 6 with a near-5-inch display have been spotted in one of Apple’s supplier factories…(...) The carrier is currently sending out text messages to customers stating that there’s a bug in the new firmware. According to the warning, the issue has to due with 3G performance. Tamagotchi attempts comeback in upcoming iOS app Posted: 08 Feb 2013 03:17 PM PST Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 10 years, chances are you know what a Tamagotchi is. The digital-pet-on-a-keychain was released by video game-maker Bandai in 1996, and has since sold more than 76 million units. The fad, however, like an unfed digital pet, has passed away in recent years. But it looks like the popular toy is getting ready to make a comeback. Bandai has announced its upcoming title for iOS and Android called Tamagotchi L.i.f.e…(...) "Tamagotchi attempts comeback in upcoming iOS app" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Sega takes After Burner Climax to the skies on iOS Posted: 08 Feb 2013 02:45 PM PST Originally released as an arcade machine way back in 1987, Sega’s high-adrenaline jet fighter action, After Burner Climax, has made a jump to the iPhone and iPad (it’s also coming soon to Android). The game puts you in the cockpit of the F-14D Super Tomcat, F-15E Strike Eagle or F/A-18E Super Hornet, each customizable with four paint jobs (standard paint, camouflage, special paint and low visibility). Load your aircraft with a bunch of high-tech weapons, take off into the skies and barrel through twenty different landscapes – like volcanoes, jungles, ice caps and more. Of course, the game’s really just an excuse for a bunch of orange explosions and total mayhem. Nevertheless, fans of some heart-pounding action (gee, I sound like a PR bunny) should consider giving After Burner Climax a try…(...) Oh noes! Infinity Blade: Dungeons on hold as Epic shutters Impossible Studios Posted: 08 Feb 2013 12:45 PM PST Last March, Epic Games president Mike Capps joined Apple’s marketing honcho Phil Schiller to announce Infinity Blade: Dungeons. After he had finished demoing work in progress code, I nearly peed my pants out of excitement. What the team was able to pull off in terms of huge environments, menacing atmosphere and eye-candy visuals was nothing short of phenomenal, leaving me salivating for more. If there ever was such a thing as a Retina iPad system seller, Infinity Blade: Dungeons would have to be it. Then we heard the game got pushed back until some time in 2013 because implementing all these great ideas required “a little extra time”. As if that weren’t bad enough, Epic Games CEO has just confirmed that the project is now on hold until the company figures out its future following the closure of Impossible Studios, the team which was working on the game…(...) iPhone 5 does little to improve Apple’s standing in China Posted: 08 Feb 2013 11:45 AM PST Even though Apple isn’t one to “blindly pursue market share”, China has risen to become its second biggest market in terms of revenue, right behind the United States. In fact, CEO Tim Cook is convinced that in the near future "China will become Apple's largest market". But despite recently introducing a new interest-free payment option and two million sales during the opening weekend, that wasn’t enough to curb China’s explosive growth of Android cheapos. And as price-sensitive shoppers continue to favor attractively-priced Android handsets over the pricey Apple smartphone, the iPhone 5 has done little in terms of moving the needle…(...) Apple hires OLED expert from LG Display Posted: 08 Feb 2013 11:15 AM PST Amidst growing rumors of Apple working on a larger-screened iPhone and a full-sized TV set, comes news today that the Cupertino company has hired a high-profile executive to join its prestigious Display group. His name is Dr. Jeung Jil Lee, and he’s a former senior OLED (organic light-emitting diode) expert from LG Display. The hiring reignites speculation that Apple is considering using the display tech in its products…(...) "Apple hires OLED expert from LG Display" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
iPhone sales quadruple in India, but gap remains Posted: 08 Feb 2013 10:02 AM PST When it comes to Apple’s push to enter emerging markets like China, India’s huge pool of consumers has largely been overlooked. Indeed, one of that country’s leading newspapers charged Apple has “ignored” India, until recently. From adopting the Indian rupee in the App Store to including local musicians in iTunes, the company has increased sales by up to 400 percent in four months. However, Apple still faces a large gap: only ten percent of India’s residents own a smartphone and rival Samsung is the clear leader, researchers say…(...) Apple now a lone holdout in the e-book price fixing suit Posted: 08 Feb 2013 08:13 AM PST Last September, three of the nation's top five book publishers settled with The United States Justice Department (DOJ) over alleged collusion in the pricing of e-books, despite Apple crying foul and accusing Amazon of assisting the government’s agenda. Following DOJ’s deal with HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster and Hachette, Penguin followed suite in December 2012 and today DOJ announced that Macmillan has stricken a similar settlement with Uncle Sam, leaving Apple as a lone holdout in the suit…(...)
