"techBASIC 2.4 gave developers the ability to connect to the Internet of Things using Bluetooth low energy. techBASIC 2.6 goes one step further giving developers an easy way to write programs to connect directly to the Internet," said Mike Westerfield, president of Byte Works.
techBASIC is a technical computing environment with built-in calls making it easy to create apps with interactive graphics, access internal sensors, connect to external devices with Bluetooth low energy and to connect to the Internet via WiFi.

Opening the Playroom, their cat appears on the floor. Tap him and he reacts; touch him and he rolls onto his back. Kids can drag him to any location in the Playroom, toss him a ball of wool, and watch him play. Artists have four different drawings to complete and bring into their cat's 3D world: the walls and floor of the playroom, a rubber ball, a cat's bed, and the door that opens to the outside.
In the Closet is a full-length mirror, and their cat poses in front of it admiring himself. There are six different drawings to complete in this location: headphones, sunglasses, hair bow, top hat, cowboy hat, and goggles. As kids transform each drawing into a 3D, color-mapped object that can be rotated in space, they can let their cat see how he looks in the mirror wearing various combinations of headwear and eyewear. The real-time moving reflection in the mirror is an especially impressive trick.
The final location is the Lab, where a row of test tubes stand on a table with a whiteboard in the background. Their cat can move around the lab trying to satisfy his curiosity about all the equipment in the room. There are six more drawings to color in, including: model rocket, whiteboard, globe, bookshelf, trophy, and flower. Once in the lab, they can be rearranged to create the most pleasing effect. If any skeptics remain, kids can mix chemicals and cause an explosion, which graphically demonstrates that rendered objects are so real they are subject to the laws of Newtonian mechanics.
Paint My Cat also lets young artists work on each of the 17 drawings in the app with traditional tools, like crayons, markers, and pencils. With the drawings downloaded and printed (they are identical to those in the app), kids can color them in as accurately and elaborately as they like (with greater precision than that afforded by a fingertip). Snapping a picture of the finished drawing imports the picture, which is tiled onto the 3D model.
The app has so many positive effects on cognitive development, it has been embraced by special needs experts. According to Penina Rybak of Socially Speaking, "As an SLP (Speech Language Pathologist), who specializes in treating young children with autism and special needs, not to mention difficulty with visuospatial processing and TOT (time on task), this is the first drawing app I have seen that can be developmentally integrated into a visual presentation hierarchy, when educating children with an IEP (Individualized Education Program)." The sale will begin on February 12, 2013 and end at midnight on February 19, 2013. Every package combination will be discounted by 20% during this time.
"We thought right now would be a good time to offer a discount for several reasons," stated an SCSC spokesman. "With our recent introduction of full support for CoreStorage technology and extended support for both hardware and software implementations of RAID, we thought the price reduction might be enough to get potential customers to take a better look at all of our products. With other drive testing tools costing in the vicinity of $100, our new discounted pricing will allow users to obtain a high quality drive testing product without spending a fortune. It hardly makes sense to us to spend twice as much on a drive testing tool as it does to get a new hard drive."

History from past to present has been filled with scholars. We've been graced with talent from Einstein to Edison and Shakespeare to Salinger. But the world wouldn't be complete without a few scumbags, as well. Scott McCausland, Co-Founder of The AppFlixion Group, jumped head-first into the "scumbag" category in May of 2005. McCausland knowingly and illegally uploaded Star Wars Episode III to the file sharing site where he was an administrator. As it turns out, the FBI warnings that you see at the start of every film are no joke and McCausland found that out the hard way.
After serving several months in a federal prison, McCausland decided that he needed to make a change. In 2011, after previously obtaining a degree in Management Information Systems, McCausland received his MBA from Penn State University. Enter, the scholar.
"When you make a mistake of the caliber that I did, it stays with you for long after the initial consequences. A lot of people are stuck on my past, but I'm not," McCausland said. "I'm a new person with new goals and new passions."
One of those passions is running a successful iPhone app development business. McCausland, along with partner Josh Layhue, made their initial mark in the App Store with Bust A Caption in late 2012. Their second title is set to be released on February 12, 2013. The app is appropriately entitled, Scholar or Scumbag.

History from past to present has been filled with scholars. We've been graced with talent from Einstein to Edison and Shakespeare to Salinger. But the world wouldn't be complete without a few scumbags, as well. Scott McCausland, Co-Founder of The AppFlixion Group, jumped head-first into the "scumbag" category in May of 2005. McCausland knowingly and illegally uploaded Star Wars Episode III to the file sharing site where he was an administrator. As it turns out, the FBI warnings that you see at the start of every film are no joke and McCausland found that out the hard way.
After serving several months in a federal prison, McCausland decided that he needed to make a change. In 2011, after previously obtaining a degree in Management Information Systems, McCausland received his MBA from Penn State University. Enter, the scholar.
"When you make a mistake of the caliber that I did, it stays with you for long after the initial consequences. A lot of people are stuck on my past, but I'm not," McCausland said. "I'
One of those passions is running a successful iPhone app development business. McCausland, along with partner Josh Layhue, made their initial mark in the App Store with Bust A Caption in late 2012. Their second title is set to be released on February 12, 2013. The app is appropriately entitled, Scholar or Scumbag.

The game is now available on the App Store (iPhone and iPad universal) and the Mac App Store. Grand Prize-winning From Cheese is a super-cute game with a unique, reverse logic gameplay: the player draws a scent-trail from a piece of cheese to a chubby mouse, then the mouse will smell the trail and follow it all the way backwards to the cheese.
The game is so easy to learn that it doesn't even feature any explanatory text: you use your finger (or pointer) to draw the path from the cheese, then press the "play" button and the mouse starts following the trail from its end: so, if there's a door that is opened by a button, the mouse must walk over the button and then through the door; but this means that the player will have to draw the path through the door first, then over the button, because the mouse will start from the other end of the trail.
This clever, award-winning gameplay gets very complex as new elements are added to the mazes: vacuum cleaners that will suck the trail, angry cats that will jump above walls, barking dogs able to "freeze" the cats and evil rats trying to pursue the same cheese you desperately need.
An exclusive feature for a puzzler is the continuous undo system: when you draw the scent-trail, you use a certain amount of "scent" that is shown in a "scent-bar" - simply drag your finger (or pointer) along the bar to pin-point your undo at any given particle of the trail. Smart and comfy.
