Pixels on Toast Launches Food Run for iPhone, Avoids the Double Dip - Published on 02/13/13

Joining Food Run HD is a new version of Food Run 1.0.7, for iPhone only. This gives players a choice of an all-in-one universal version and a cheaper iPhone-only version of the colourful platform game. Game progress is synced via iCloud across all versions and platforms. With colorful characters based on popular foodstuffs, Food Run is presented using crisp cartoon visuals. The goal in Food Run is to reach the end of the level, collecting all the foods and stars along the way.
Edinburgh, United Kingdom - Independent game developer, Pixels on Toast, has introduced an iPhone-only version of Food Run. Food Run 1.0.7 is a level-based platform game, combining a simple one-touch interface with old school platformer gameplay.
Food Run is now available in two versions: the existing Food Run HD universal version and a new iPhone-only version. The way this is structured solves a common problem for the player, the much maligned "double dip."
Kevin Ng, founder of Pixels on Toast and creator of Food Run explains, "The HD version of many games on the App Store do not include the iPhone version. This means the player must 'double dip', or pay twice to get the game on their iPhone and iPad. With Food Run, the HD version plays on both iPhone and iPad, whilst the iPhone-only version is cheaper, meaning those players who are not interested in an iPad version get great value too."
Game progress is synced via iCloud across all platforms and versions of the game.
With colorful characters based on popular foodstuffs such as strawberries, bananas and popcorn, Food Run is presented using crisp cartoon visuals.
The goal in Food Run is to reach the end of the level, collecting all the foods and stars along the way. As foods are liberated from their floating bubbles, they start following the player, joining the food chain behind. Whilst the foods in the food chain can stomp enemies, they can also be killed, so careful management is required.
Once individual foods have been collected, they are added to the collection of foods that the player can use as their lead food hero. This collection mechanic drives the player to not only complete levels, but to find everything, with some foods being more rare and difficult to find than others.
Food Run features 40 levels at launch, spread over 4 visually distinct chapters such as "Sunshine Valley" and "Moonbase Stilton". The game features 5 polka inspired tracks from jazz musician Skip Peck, adding to the quirky flavor of the game.
