Everything we think we know about iPhone 5C Posted: 07 Sep 2013 06:01 PM PDT It’s now widely accepted Apple will, for the first time in iPhone history, launch not one but two new iPhones this coming Tuesday. One, a flagship iPhone 5S, and the other a long-rumored budget iPhone that should help the company tap emerging markets where telcos rarely subsidize devices. Critics assume the so-called iPhone 5C will somehow flop because it’ll have a plastic shell. In reality, coupled with Apple’s marketing prowess and brand power, the iPhone 5C will widen Apple’s price umbrella and replace the $450 off-contract iPhone 4S as Apple’s most affordable iPhone yet – without offering a two-year old hardware. We’ve combed through a flurry of news stories, analyst reports and speculative articles, weighing in each source/publication’s credibility to come up with a set of features we’re fairly certain the iPhone 5C will include. Of course, your guess is as good as ours so don’t shy away from voicing your opinion down in the comments…(...) "Everything we think we know about iPhone 5C" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.4 successfully jailbroken Posted: 07 Sep 2013 04:22 PM PDT Good news for the jailbreak community this afternoon, as developer winocm has announced that he has successfully jailbroken iOS 6.1.4 on his iPhone 5. This is the first time, that I know of, that the firmware has been publicly hacked. Winocm has been very busy lately, announcing and demonstrating his jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3—which we went hands on with last week—and now this. His progress is good news for folks who lost their jailbreak upgrading past iOS 6.1.2…(...) "iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.4 successfully jailbroken" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Alleged iPhone 5S spotted with China Compulsary Certificate markings Posted: 07 Sep 2013 03:26 PM PDT There’s been a lot of talk recently about Apple’s upcoming iPhone plans for China. The company is expected to unveil two new handsets next week, the 5S and the 5C, and rumor has it that it just inked a deal with the country’s largest carrier. So as you can imagine, that makes this next iPhone 5S shell leak rather interesting. Because while we’ve already seen a number of photos and videos of the handset’s rear casing, this particular one has China Compulsory Certificate markings…(...) Apple updates apps with support for iPhone 6 and iPhone 7. Wait, what? Posted: 07 Sep 2013 11:32 AM PDT Apple posted tiny updates for a number of its apps this week, including iMovie, iPhoto, Pages and more. And while the updates themselves seem insignificant—most of their change logs read “addresses compatibility issues”—they may not be. It’s been discovered that all of these apps, and several others from third party developers, now show that they’ve been “optimized for iPhone 6″ in their Compatibility sections on the App Store. Does this mean the iPhone 5S is actually the iPhone 6? Update: as noted by several commenters below, it appears that Apple either has a major glitch in its iTunes backend, or is totally trolling us. Users are seeing “optimized for iPhone 6, 7″ and so on, depending on their region. We have updated the title of the post to reflect this. (...) Star Wars Force Collection review: bring out your dark side Posted: 07 Sep 2013 10:00 AM PDT Speaking as a confirmed Star Wars fan with pretty decent creds to back up my obsession, I was both overly excited and justifiably leery of Konami's new collectable card game (CCG) based on my favorite movie of all time. Star Wars Force Collection is a CCG that is based on everyone's favorite scruffy-looking Nerf herder and his band of lovable misfits. Sounds like a dream come true for sci-fi nerds, but does it live up to its namesake…(...) "Star Wars Force Collection review: bring out your dark side" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Four ways to sell your iPhone before upgrading to a newer model Posted: 07 Sep 2013 09:00 AM PDT Next Tuesday, Sept. 10, Apple is holding an event where, presumably, a new model of iPhone will be announced. While it may not be ready to hit store shelves immediately, it is likely that the next generation of iPhone will ship within the next following weeks. If you are planning on upgrading, there are a few ways you can make a buck or two off of your current "gently used iPhone" to make the strain on your pocketbook a bit easier…(...) Analyst sees Apple launching iPhone with a 4.5 to 5-inch display next year Posted: 07 Sep 2013 03:38 AM PDT Thursday afternoon, The Wall Street Journal released a story claiming that Apple has begun testing different display sizes for future iPhone models. The outlet said that the company is experimenting with screens between 4.8 to 6-inches. The report was The Journal’s second on the topic in as many months, leading many to believe that there really might be some truth to these plus-sized iPhone rumors. And today, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has thrown his hat into the ring…(...) "Analyst sees Apple launching iPhone with a 4.5 to 5-inch display next year" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Saurik: there’s “very little hope” that WinterBoard will support iOS 7 Posted: 06 Sep 2013 11:35 PM PDT When iOS 7 drops later this month, it will mark the largest and most radical update in the platform’s history. In addition to its number of new features, the software’s UI has been rebuilt from the ground up, bringing about new colors, fonts and other elements. And while most people—at least those who have seen it—seem to be ok with the changes, others are counting on an iOS 7 jailbreak to get rid of the makeover. But that may be easier said than done, because according to Saurik, the future looks bleak for theming…(...)
