Quite correct. I was unable to use the cam button, until my daughter pointed out to me that it has switched to scroll. How these things come intuitively to those of her generation is a mystery.

The guy at the genius bar showed me while setting up the new iPad. I didn't think my camera button was working but alas slide it.

I have 5.1 on my 3Gs. The battery drain is the same or better. My 3Gs was unlocked and I had to restore it as new which is a pain. When that happens, I clean up my apps. The bottom line is: I like 5.1 on my 3Gs.

3G and 3GS slow? Try rebooting. I have to reboot constantly and that helps for awhile.

Are you saying you have a iPhone 3G that is running iOS 5.1? How?

Apple says that iOS 4.2.1 is the highest the 3G can use, but if I
remember correctly, it was extremely slow because it just does not
have enough RAM for the multi-tasking.

If it is slow, rebooting stops the currently running apps, and removes
the other recently run apps from the mutlitasking bar.

The iPhone 3G never got the "multitasking".

I realized the same thing the other day. I assume you mean by scroll is that you push up on the camera icon and then the camera shows up? That is what I found out.

I wish there were more information available when these changes are made.
I've had some problems on the computer itself which I found some answers from apple care but also on google where some posted the answers I needed.

It would be nice to have a manual with FIXES for phone and computer because some of the changes in the system are not obvious.

I haven't been seeing any battery drainage lately, but I haven't been paying too much attention to it. I keep in hooked up when I can. I did mention somewhere that a big drain on battery and data is all the notifications that come in. Many of these are set to ON and many of them are probably not necessary to have ON.

spam texts

I have had a very minimal amount of these texts, so far. I do belong to the do not call lists and I am sure some of these places get around it. I try not to give out my cell phone number and that helps, but if it is the only phone you have, that could be a problem.

I am so fed up with spam and even porn I get on my computer. It is a little better but I report the computer spam to my provider or to yahoo (where most of the spam is coming from) and to spam@uce.com then I block it.

If it is a commercial text some texts say you can just report STOP back, and so far that seems to work. Even if it doesn't say that, do it anyway. If there is a phone no I sometimes call it on my landline to see if I can find out who called it.

What really annoys me to are the occasional voice mail messages or actual calls I get and then they waste 5 minutes of my time til I get to the end when it says press a certain no. to stop it. I don't listen to my messages until after 9 pm most of the time or I just delete them if it is an unknown number.

Certain places like charities are not subject to the do not all list!! some charities are not registered to legally ask for money, at least in NYS. I learned a lot after writing to my congress reps and the attorney general. The Robo calls I was getting have finally stopped. One of the charities was not registered and I think it was investigated. All of a sudden the calls stopped and not just to me but others I know!

Where did you come up with uce.com? When I go to the website it redirects
me to a Youtube video which is basicly spam itself.

When you try to upgrade iOS through iTunes, select save the file instead of
install and see if will work that way. If is successfully downs loads the
file, you can run upgrade the iPhone again in iTunes and it will find the
file and use it.

Voice texting

Posted by: "David" dd.1111@hotmail.com   alper_95119

My previous phone (Droid) had a keyboard icon that when pressed allowed me to do speech to text. It was a default button on the keyboard, so that ANY and EVERY app that used the keyboard, I could simply talk.

The default iphone4 keyboard does not have that.
I don't want to install Dragon or TextMe or TextMore.

I just want to launch the microphone.

Can this be done?

Voice to text is available as a part of Siri on the iPhone 4s. I have
played with it on a few short messages but prefer to type it myself.

The do-not-call list will not stop spam calls. It will cause legitimate companies who follow the rules to not call you. It also does not cover political calls or charity calls. Nor does it cover text messages.

When you list your phone # on the do-not-call list, you can tell callers that your number is on the do not call list and ask them to not call again. If they abuse that, then you can report them to the do-not-call list people, but they most likely won't do anything about it.

The do-not-call list will slow conscientious companies from calling, but not those who ignore it.
