The Great East Japan Earthquake on March 11, 2011, has brought great destruction to Northeastern Japan. One year later, the rebuilding of homes, the reconstruction of the cities and the economy are still under way.

Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP), a public interest foundation, first established the "Design Centre for Reconstruction Assistance" on 11th June 2011. This aims to administer design activities that will help the reconstruction of areas affected by the disaster.

In addition, to further assist the revival, the "Area Aid Design Project - JDP" iPad App is launched to introduce 100 design-related enterprises in Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Yamagata, Miyagi, Fukushima and Ibaraki. They are the firms that utilize the traditional methods and techniques handed down from ancient times. Furthermore, there are many sites developing and producing highly specialized products that require technical capabilities. The introduction of the "Area Aid Design Project - JDP" iPad App is to further enhance public awareness to the unique culture and designs in these rebuilding regions.

The Life Inventory iPad app was created because of the complexity and length of time needed to complete a proper Moral Inventory. When persons working their way through a 12-step program start creating their own moral inventory and discover that some ways of doing a Moral Inventory might require a thousand spreadsheets, the task seems daunting and many never get around to finishing it, thus depriving themselves of the rewards a completed Moral Inventory can provide. This app is an attempt at finding a way to make the task less time consuming, while at the same time helping the user create a valuable asset in their recovery process.

Storage of the Life Inventory data is done using an underlying database which can be backed up and restored as necessary.

Disclaimer - This app is neither officially produced nor approved by Alcoholics Anonymous or any other Addiction Recovery program. From what is known there have been many Moral Inventory spreadsheets circulating unofficially among AA members for at least 50 years in various versions and this app is based on one the developer found to be useful and more comprehensive than most.

Many thanks to "George" and his "Dungeon Prison Complete" spreadsheet which has been used as the outline for this app. This spreadsheet was developed based on years of his own personal research of the AA Big Book, along with help from many others who had already gone through the process of completing their own Moral Inventories. Anyone, Not Just 12-Steppers, Can Benefit from Completing a Life Inventory:

The process of completing a Life Inventory doesn't directly address addictions specifically, but rather helps the user examine in detail events that have transpired in their life. The Life Inventory app gently assists the user in probing into not only what happened, but also why it happened. The design concept is based on animated cutouts of physically handdrawn paper artwork. With this special "old school" technique the designs of the app feel more physical and real than most of the other apps.

The small Berlin based studio SHAPE spent almost 6 months on crafting this app, recording the songs and animating the scenes.

The alarm clock is a form of violence. It jars us at the time when we are most vulnerable and helpless. Sometimes we respond in kind. We in the West have been shocking ourselves into wakefulness for a long time. It has not always been like this, however. For thousands of years people have paid more attention to how they awaken and are awakened. In many cultures, it is believed that the soul travels when we are asleep. Thus, it is very important that the sleeper is brought gently to wakefulness so that his or her soul might find its way back.

For traditional peoples around the world, this is a matter of life and death. The Havasupai of the American southwest felt that there was a delicate thread between the night-traveling soul and the body of the dreamer and that any sudden awakening might cut the thread and prevent the soul from returning to the body. The Xingu people of central Brazil similarly aver that sudden waking prevents the soul from returning to the body.

In Africa, the Azande and Masai peoples both caution against waking a person suddenly - an aggressive awakening may lead to death. In Japan, too, the Ainu call for waking people slowly to allow the soul and body to reunite, as do the Bororo Indians of Brazil, the Toradja of Sulawesi in Indonesia, and the Andaman Islanders of the Pacific. Since the method of awakening is so important, many cultures have developed etiquette around it. The Maori of New Zealand consider it a breach of manners to awaken a guest. If, however, it becomes necessary, the host will begin in soft, low tones and increase gradually in volume until the visitor is awake. This gives the spirit time to return to the body. The Kol people of central India and Murngin people Australia follow a similar waking routine.

Of course, we know that people awaken suddenly every day and do not die. But to dismiss the experiences of innumerable other civilizations out of hand would be to miss the point. It is clear that something gets lost when we are awakened sharply and suddenly. It is our dream consciousness that loses its way back to the waking state.

Sudden, abrupt waking in the morning as with loud, conventional alarm clocks and the associated release of stress hormones from the adrenal gland can be avoided by using this novel and intelligent self adapting, personal sleep cycle alarm clock "Gentle Alarm".

In Ferries HD, the task for the player is to deliver passengers or other freights with ferries to the right harbors. The game play has been improved by offering "Revivers" to continue the game after a crash and by adding checkpoints. A lot of other small details have been enhanced. Especially the new "Underwater" map with submarines and aquanauts adds a new experience to the game: "Underwater" introduces the side view perspective which is pretty unusual compared to other line drawing games.

Apart from the online Game Center integration Ferries HD now also offers the ability to tweet the newest high score from within the game.

Unique power-ups such as the Speed Ball power-up utilize this feature in gameplay by increasing the force upon a collision with a faster ball. The twin lasers of the Laser Panel power-up hit the blocks with a force resulting in consecutive hits of many nearby blocks, creating a powerful effect that can decimate whole areas.

The game offers 45 levels of increasing difficulty. Levels are organized in three Worlds containing 15 levels each. Each world brings its own appearance, theme, music, and animated backgrounds as well as unique game play twists. The Nebula World's outer space theme gives the player the feeling of traveling through a star field enclosed in a nebulae. Featuring space themed music and graphics, players must harness the power of gravity-influenced wormholes to reach otherwise closed off areas, and control its influence on changes to the path of the ball. The fast paced, rock music, Fire World takes place in a fiery, smoke-filled magma corridor. With many destructible rocks that catch fire when they are hit by a ball or another block, players must harness the power of flames to destroy blocks while taking care to not create dangerous holes in the side of the playing field. Skilled players reach the final, Rainbow World, the final and most difficult of the levels. This level's
often-changing colorful background features rainbow-colored trails in the play area. Players in this World must navigate around malicious Malus Orbs, penalty producing power-downs that give players a smaller panel, slower ball, or less time to complete the level, etc. There are also Star Roads, or paths, which guide the ball to hidden and otherwise unreachable areas.

Action Block Buster contains 16 unlockable achievements, from easy - completing a level in under 25 seconds, to difficult - finishing all 15 levels of an entire world without losing your life. With a multitude of power-ups and hidden "Easter Eggs," or game cheats, Action Block Buster also rewards players for skilled game play. For example, when a player hits many blocks without the ball touching the panel, or when he or she hits and destroys a number of blocks consecutively with a single hit, the player is rewarded with power-ups and extra balls.

Action Block Buster has high-resolution, Retina display, 3D graphics with lighting, particle effects, and beautifully animated backgrounds. Action Block Buster is also backwardly compatible with older devices, such as the 2nd generation iPhone, automatically adjusting graphic effects to maintain optimal game play.

All leaderboards and achievements are automatically sent to Apple's Game Center service, allowing gamers to compete with players all over the world.
