Rolling down a platform and leaping to avoid mines and other obstacles, upcoming app Dropage by developer Game Salutes promises to deliver a unique physics platformer experience to iOS devices. Providing 26 challenging and diverse levels, Dropage aims to deliver addictive gameplay to the casual mobile gamer. Each level is filled with items that affect the game's dynamics and provide an engaging experience. Dropage will arrive at the end of March, 2012.

Chicago, Illinois - Game Salutes today announced Dropage, their upcoming physics-based platformer for the iOS that promises challenging levels and unique gameplay. The objective is to try to get the marble through the last platform at the bottom of the screen in the fastest time possible. The player tilts the screen to change the gravity and causes the marble to roll to the side tilted. Tapping the screen causes the marble to jump in the direction of the tilt. This adds a new dimension to physics platformers.

Each level consists of a series of platforms with holes in it that will cause the ball to move to the next platform and closer to the finish. On each platform there will be obstacles that will either slow down or destroy the player's marble. Power-ups will be available that allow additional marbles for bonus points and extra lives and items that boost the marble's speed. Each level will have an indicated time in which it must be completed. At least one player marble must reach the finish before the indicated time expires in order to complete the level. If a player finishes before the time expires a time bonus is added to the score. Also each additional marble that finishes the level adds a score bonus.

The levels are fast-paced and can be finished in one minute or less. Completing a level saves the player's progress, allowing the player to continue playing at a later time. As the levels increase in difficulty, players will find themselves rapidly tilting the screen and tapping frequently to avoid the mine items that fill the levels. The initial release contains 26 levels with more to come in future updates. Each level features a unique background and platform foreground color. Players must be strategic about tilting, especially when additional marbles are involved because tilting the screen one way may cause the other marbles to run into mines.

Dropage will arrive at the end of March to the IOS App Store for a low price of $0.99.

The Boat Beacon app, developed by a skipper for other skippers, does not require an external AIS receiver or transponder equipment and provides location tracking at a fraction of the cost of an AIS system. Boat Beacon offers an improved and less expensive solution to tracking for sailors.

Wales, United Kingdom - Sailors can now use their iPhones to keep a watch on nearby boats along busy coastlines while enabling other boaters and friends to follow their boat's location using Boat Beacon Maps and Global Marine AIS systems. The Boat Beacon app, developed by a skipper for other skippers, does not require an external AIS receiver or transponder equipment and provides location tracking at a fraction of the cost of an AIS system.

Boat Beacon was developed by Electric Pocket, the same company that recently made a big splash with the introduction of its Compass Eye augmented reality app for iOS. Steve Bennett, the company's CEO, sought an easy and relatively inexpensive way for his family to keep an eye on his location when he was sailing on his boat in the Bristol Channel. He also wanted a means of spotting big boats heading toward him, enabling him to trim his sails accordingly.

"A high speed craft, such as a Catamaran, travels so fast it can be upon you from beyond the horizon in a few short minutes," said Bennett. "An AIS Transponder provides the standard kit to do this, sending and receiving ship position and movement details on a regular basis. An AIS transponder, however, can easily cost more than a thousand dollars and doesn't have the ability to see over the horizon."

Bennett knew there is a large network of AIS shore stations collecting and sharing AIS data that an app could tap into. Also, most coastal and popular ports now have 3G or 2G data coverage - the UK has nearly complete coast coverage out to 12 miles to sea as do all the major U.S. ports, coastal areas and inland waters in the US.

Boat Beacon offers an improved and less expensive solution to location tracking for sailors. Features of Boat Beacon include:

* Real-time "Map View" of both the user's and other nearby boats via AIS
* "Compass" mode to sight ships on the map
* Collision avoidance using Closest Point of Approach (CPA)
* Enable friends and family to see the user's location and course on Boat Beacon and Global AIS Systems
* Current Speed, Course and GPS location
* Ship-to-Ship instant messaging, letting users to chat with other Boat Beacon users
* Magnetic or True North setting
* MMSI numbers to contact nearby boats via VHF

By enabling Boat Beacon's "Transmit" mode, the user's boat will appear on other Boat Beacon-equipped devices. With its AIS Sharing feature, the user's boat will also appear on live websites such as AIS Hub, Marina Traffic and Ship Finder.

Boat Beacon is available in the App Store for US$9.99. A real-time map of Boat Beacon boats can be viewed on the app's website.

A distinct feature that separates Air Chalk from other iOS drawing or whiteboard apps is that it supports wireless connection. A presenter can connect one iOS device (or a computer) to a projector, and use another iOS device to write or draw. The content is remotely displayed via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. London, United Kingdom - SilverWiz Ltd. has announced, that their personal finance software MoneyWiz for iPad is already optimised with artwork for the new Retina display and is available for download now, via the iTunes AppStore.

"We've started redrawing all our artwork to make it twice as big, 2 weeks ago. Today, it's in the AppStore, ready for the new iPad owners to enjoy it." said Iliya Yordanov, managing director of SilverWiz Ltd.

The new artwork made MoneyWiz 12 MB larger, totalling 22.8 MB.

So how does it work from developer's perspective?
MoneyWiz consists of 189 separate images, and 192 icons. If we didn't optimise the artwork for the new display, and you see it on the new iPad, the iOS will automatically scale the images to fit your screen, but the picture will be pixelated, because the current images are just much smaller than what the retina display can show. Just check the screenshot comparison that we made. Notice that the new artwork (right) looks sharp, but the non-retina artwork looks really blurred when scaled up to the retina size.

We had to manually re-do each of these 189 images, and also re-export all categories icons with the larger size. It took about a week, but it will be worth it for everyone who's getting the new iPad.

One of the most challenging tasks was testing the new artwork without having the actual device. We had to manually overlap images to see if it looks well, and when Apple released the new iOS 5.1 SDK things were significantly eased by the presence of a retina iPad simulator. Even with the retina iPad simulator though, it was very difficult to generate AppStore screenshots ready for the retina display, because we couldn't capture the whole screen in one image, even on a 27" iMac, as the resolution in portrait is significantly higher on the iPad than on the iMac.

Using different Specials combinations will diversify your experience significantly and provide unlimited replay possibilities. Besides, it is impossible to beat harder levels if you don't have a clear and balanced strategy as you'll never know what the next round threats are. You won't get neither the enemy types nor their numbers. Being surprised with every next level will keep you excited.

New enemies:
We have added four new enemy types. In all, there are 15 enemy types at updated Tower Siege for iPad. Each one has unique tactics based on its strengths and weaknesses.

* Grasshopper on a light helicopter
* Steel Hornet, a heavy unmanned helicopter
* Mad Mantis handling destructive submachine guns

New Special Weapons:
You will be able to power up the tower with the rewards you will get each level. There are 13 various active and passive upgradeable Special Weapons.
The new Special Weapons are:
* Fireball to help you destroy a whole enemy group with a single lightning ball
* X-time to slow down every enemy unit
* Tower repair - a passive ability to reinforce the Tower over time

Indie developer Bassem Youssef today introduces BloBox 1.0 for iOS, his new 3D scroller, infinite maze game, where players move the red-blob cartoon character by rotating the iDevice, or make the character jump by tapping. Played in an infinitely long, rectangular shaped room, the walls, floor, and ceiling are made of horizontal planks that recede into infinity. As the blob appears to be moving forward, deeper into the box, players must move or jump to avoid black blocks and collect gold blocks.

Toledo, Ohio - Indie developer Bassem Youssef today is pleased to introduce BloBox 1.0 for iOS, his new 3D scroller, infinite maze game, where players move the red-blob cartoon character, BomBoo, by rotating the iDevice, or make him jump by tapping anywhere on the screen. Played in an infinitely long, rectangular shaped room, the walls, floor, and ceiling are made of horizontal planks that recede into infinity. As BomBoo appears to be moving forward, deeper into the box, players must move or jump to avoid black blocks and collect gold blocks. BomBoo's bubble can be used to protect him, should a player be stuck at any of the 75 levels of the game.

An unusual 3D scroller, BloBox (pronounced Blob-Box) allows the player to move BomBoo either clockwise or counterclockwise by rotating their iDevice. The animated character is pulled by gravity to the bottom of the screen throughout the game, adhering to one of the four interior walls. Whatever the iDevice's orientation, BomBoo will be found always the same size at the bottom of the screen or on his way to the bottom. Tapping anywhere on the screen allows him to jump directly across the room to the facing wall, which is necessary when he needs to quickly avoid oncoming black blocks.

While the animation's perspective creates the illusion that BomBoo is traveling forward into the box, the reality is that he is standing still while the box is moving toward him. As the box moves forward along the z-axis, the red-blob cartoon character moves only along the x and y-axes. The floor slides beneath him as he remains at zero on the z-axis, moving left or right, or jumping. There is just one fatal exception. Not all of the interior walls are the same temperature. The flat, black rectangular blocks (planks) are hot, and if BomBoo goes over one, the gooey creature rapidly expands and explodes against the inside of the screen, his eyes now very large, looking out in despair.

At the lower levels of the game, oncoming black blocks approach one at a time or as a group that covers an entire wall. Rotating the iDevice allows BomBoo to slowly walk out of the way. And in an emergency, he can always jump to the opposite wall. However, at higher levels, players must react much more quickly, as black blocks come staggered on all four walls or as a group covering more than one plane. To enable faster paced gameplay, the game includes a Sensitivity control, which allows BomBoo to slide at a very slow to very fast rate of speed.

Fruit scientists will discover the secrets of juiciness and the effects of water, sugar, ice, and slime on the accelerating fruit. Featuring realistic, 3D wormhole graphics and animation, the game offers two modes of play, various levels of difficulty, and four different fruits.

The game includes two modes of play: Campaign or Quick Game. The Campaign mode has 20 levels of play and begins with an interactive tutorial. Gradually, the player moves through timed levels, each with their own objectives. On level 1 the goal is to simply survive for 50 seconds by tilting or rotating the iDevice to avoid obstacles inside the tunnel. During gameplay, readouts indicate remaining time, percent of juiciness (life) remaining, speed, and level number. Fortunately, when the orange hits an obstacle like a protruding duct or interior support, it splatters and loses some juiciness, but remains intact to continue traveling until time is up.

On succeeding levels, players learn that they can regain lost juiciness by colliding with a water droplet, but hitting an ice particle slows the fruit and reduces juiciness. Hitting a sugar crystal confers an advantage by adding speed, and bumping into slime reduces speed, but causes no loss of juiciness. Importantly, if all juiciness is lost, the level ends and must be repeated. Obstacles and power-ups are visible from a distance, so players have a few seconds to steer around or through onrushing solids. Slamming in to an obstacle at high speed can interfere with player control and cause the interior tunnel view to spin rapidly.

There are four different Quick Games, which feature three difficulty levels, play for points, and optional in-app purchases. In both modes, each fruit poses a different objective. For the Orange, the goal is just to survive until time runs out. For the Lemon, the goal is to achieve light speed by collecting sugar. For the Blackberry, the goal is to not go too fast by collecting slime. And for the Apple, players have to regain their juiciness to 120 % by collecting water.
