I've never purchased these on internet. Do you simply receive a code for each card purchased that you insert somewhere?

Thought this might be a good way to send grandkids an iTunes gift card but don't know exactly how it works to get it to them?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

When you purchase iTunes cards online, you have the option to send a real one like you get in the store or an email with a picture of an iTunes card that looks like the one you purchase in a store. MIT will have a redemption code in the email.

Updating question

Posted by: "Devitt" devittad@comcast.net   devittad

Has anyone had app scrambling problems after updating from 5.0.1 to 5.1? I am in a cast after foot surgery and can't easily get to my computer or sit there for any length of time with my foot down if I do manage to stump into the office. I was thinking of updating via the cloud, but don't want to wind up with a mess.

My iPhone 4S and iPad 2 are my lifelines while I'm stuck on this freaking sofa. I'd go nuts without the outside access they give me. Is the update significant enough to take the risk, or should I hold off?

Opinions? Stories to share? Suggestions?

I've updated both my iPhone4 and iPad2 via the cloud and had absolutely no issues.
Good luck!

I have Print n Share Pro on my iPad.

You may consider the iPhone edition of it, or even "Print n Share for
advanced printing".

Securing Wifi connections

We've had discussions in the past about setting up and using VPN (Virtual Private Network) to guarantee that our devices were secure when connecting over an UNsecured public (or private) Wifi network.

Sometimes it was hard to find a cheap or free VPN client; sometimes the client went away; sometimes it was a hassle to set up.

I just encountered a MacWorld article on a service that makes it easy (and secure) on both Macs and iDevices:

<http://www.macworld.com/article/1165985/cloak_secures_your_internet_traffic_without_the_hassle.html>

I set it up on laptop, iPhone and iPad in a matter of about 5 minutes.

Viewing their website, I cannot find out how much they charge if you exceed your 1GB data or 2 hours free time per month. If they then bump you into their bottom line plan at $8 per month if you exceed the free limit, it can cost you $96 per year, and still be limited.

I thought Witopia was a little pricey at $49.95 per year, but it has no limits, worldwide.

Do you have any info about what Cloak costs when you exceed the limited free data/time?

No.
I didn't look into that, because, for my uses, I couldn't conceive of running into overage.

Although I backup my my iPad before starting up a new one, I normally set up the new one as new and hand pick what I want on it.

I figured if it's that hard to find a solution, or even that many people with this same experience, I'd cut my losses and just set up as a new iPad and manually match settings and download apps. iCloud definitely helped to make that a not-too-painful process.
