Safari exploit that allows URL spoofing discovered in iOS 5.1 Posted: 22 Mar 2012 04:39 PM PDT Although iOS is considered to be one of the safest mobile operating systems on the market, it’s not perfect. This is something that those of us in the jailbreak community know all too well. With that in mind, it’s not terribly surprising that another security bug has recently been discovered in Apple’s software. Reports are surfacing today that an exploit has been found inside mobile Safari…(...) "Safari exploit that allows URL spoofing discovered in iOS 5.1" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Some Smart Covers aren’t fully compatible with new iPad Posted: 22 Mar 2012 02:01 PM PDT When Apple unveiled its new tablet earlier this month, the consensus seemed to be that it would continue to work with all iPad 2 Smart Covers. After all, the new iPad’s frontside dimensions are identical to its predecessors. But apparently that isn’t the case. As noted by iLounge, the new iPad uses a slightly different magnet system that causes some newer Smart Covers, and similar third party magnet-driven cases, not to work properly…(...) Check out this awesome iPhone concept with a large display Posted: 22 Mar 2012 12:14 PM PDT Yesterday afternoon, a report surfaced claiming that Apple was ordering up 4.6-inch displays for its next iPhone. The news caused quite a commotion, considering the iPhone has had a mere 3.5-inch screen for the last 5 years. Needless to say we’re a bit skeptical on the matter. While we could see Apple moving to a larger 4-inch display, as previous rumors have suggested, we can’t imagine it going with one nearly 5-inches big. Then we saw this concept…(...) RIM looking to write “exciting” enterprise apps for iOS devices, recruitment ad suggests [updated] Posted: 22 Mar 2012 11:28 AM PDT If you’re a veteran iOS developer capable of “architecting, designing, developing and testing complex applications for iPhone and iPad”, you could be a fit for Research In Motion. The BlackBerry maker has been advertising an interesting job vacancy on LinkedIn since two days ago. You should also exhibit “a solid work ethic” (just solid? they are not that demanding after all) and must be able to show own apps on the App Store at your job interview. So, what exactly is the beleaguered BlackBerry maker up to?(...) Target knocking $25 off the iPhone 4S this month Posted: 22 Mar 2012 11:16 AM PDT Those who haven’t picked up Apple’s latest handset yet might be interested in this deal. 9to5Mac is reporting that some Target locations are taking $25 dollars off of multiple iPhone 4S models through the end of the month. The site received a photo from a tipster showing the discount on an in-store advertisement at a store in Orlando, FL. And according to the ad, the deal applies to both 16GB and 32GB models, as well as all three carrier versions…(...) This mod will make your iPhone shine, literally Posted: 22 Mar 2012 10:49 AM PDT This is pretty cool. The folks over at iPatch, a UK-based iPhone repair shop, have come up with an interesting hardware mod that turns the headphone jack on your iPhone 4/4S into an LED flashlight. If you recognize the name iPatch, it’s probably because it’s the same team that brought us the glowing Apple logo mod for the iPhone 4 last year. And now it’s back with the “headphone jack torch…”(...) "This mod will make your iPhone shine, literally" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Don’t stop charging your iPad when it says 100% Posted: 22 Mar 2012 10:35 AM PDT With all the hoopla around the new iPad getting a little bit toastier than its predecessor, Dr. Raymond Soneira is in high demand these days. Yesterday, he explained how the demanding Retina display and brightness levels affect the iPad’s run time. Today, he’s back at it, warning the device keeps charging even when it claims to have been filled. Is this an iOS software flaw akin to a “bug” in cellular signal levels on the iPhone 4 (later fixed with a software update)? Hard to tell. All we know is it keeps charging for as much as an hour after the battery gauge hits the 100 percent mark. This, too, might explain why some people experience shorter run times with the new iPad versus its predecessor…(...) Apple patent depicts iPhone as self-programming TV remote Posted: 22 Mar 2012 10:05 AM PDT While most inventions depicted in Apple’s patents don’t usually end up in consumer products, they do provide an interesting look into the company’s R&D labs. Some are particularly entertaining when they fall in line with persistent rumors. Such is the case with the new “Configurable Remote Control” patent, discovered this morning by PatentlyApple. The invention shows a method of using your iPhone as a self-programming universal TV remote…(...) "Apple patent depicts iPhone as self-programming TV remote" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
WWDC 2012 to take place June 11-15? Posted: 22 Mar 2012 08:55 AM PDT Apple’s annual pilgrimage for developers – the World Wide Developers Conference traditionally held in San Francisco’s Moscone West – is approaching fast, but club Cupertino is still mum on exact dates. As Moscone West gets booked months in advance, a quick trip to their online event calendar shows a five-day slot for a “corporate meeting” on Levels 1-3 scheduled to run between June 11-15. This is likely your WWDC 2012 date. Apple’s conference typically takes place mid-June and there’s no other corporate meeting set for July. However, plenty of unused slots are still available for the month of July so take this one with a grain of salt as Apple could still book the venue some time in July rather than June…(...) Apple’s iPhone beats BlackBerry in RIM’s home turf Posted: 22 Mar 2012 08:05 AM PDT Tapping IDC data, Bloomberg says Apple’s iPhone last year outsold Research In Motion’s BlackBerry smartphone in Canada, where the embattled BlackBerry maker is headquartered. The numbers say Apple shipped 2.85 million iPhones in Canada last year versus 2.08 million BlackBerrys. Compare this to 2010 when the BlackBerry topped the iPhone by half a million. It gets even better as “this is down from 2008 when RIM out shipped Apple almost five to one”, the publication noted.
