Tiny type in Mail

I'm making the switch from Entourage to Mail. I have it set for 12 pt. type but it looks TINY on my monitor especially compared to how it looked in Entourage. If I do Command and + then the point size goes up. Is there something I can do besides get a pair of glasses?
TIA,
Melissa

You could go to the Mail menu, choose Preferences, then the Fonts and Colors tab, and set a font size there.

Is this specific to incoming mail? Occasionally I'll get mail from people who use Windows Outlook where what was readable on their end when they composed it was too small to be readable when it arrived on my end. I don't think there's a global solution to this, and it doesn't happen all the time (I think it's limited to html formatted mail).

I see that now and then, too, Jim, and it drives me bonkers. In one
specific case, I get an occasional Outlook email from my wife that's
so small it cannot be read on my iPhone even at maximum pinch-zoom
size. Here's a screen shot of one if you need a laugh:

My font size is set for 12 and the receiver sees it in 12. It's on MY screen where it's tiny.

C'mon, Otto ... I wouldn't joke about something funny! Seriously,

I have lots of info on shortcuts, what I need is navigation in in text

I thought you wanted something like this
----
Control-A
Move to beginning of line/paragraph
Control-B
Move one character backward
Control-D
Delete the character in front of the cursor
Control-E
Move to end of line/paragraph
Control-F
Move one character forward
Control-H
Delete the character behind the cursor
Control-K
Delete from the character in front of the cursor to the end of the
line/paragraph
Control-L
Center the cursor/selection in the visible area
Control-N
Move down one line
Control-O
Insert a new line after the cursor
Control-P
Move up one line
Control-T
Transpose the character behind the cursor and the character in front of the
cursor
Control-V
Move down one page
Option-Delete
Delete the word that is left of the cursor, as well as any spaces or
punctuation after the word

Otto,
That's what I want. TNX.
I tried all the combinations, but one, CTRL + E seemed to jump down several lines. down, but then i realized that the page I was on must have had some paragraph codes. So I tried it on a different page, and it worked. For some reason text editor likes to create paragraphs when I hit ENTER. :-)
TNX again,

Thank you very much, Anna. Actually, it did solve it! My toolbar was present but somehow I had not realized I could search in the window displayed in Time Machine. I was looking for a separate search field in the "star field." The screen shots helped tremendously.

Then, once Time Machine opens, the search window will be there for you. If you have the folder that contained the file for which you are searching opened in the search window (for example, ~/Documents) , once you type a text string unique to that file name in the search window, you can click the "wayback" arrow and Time Machine will glide back through individual backups that don't contain the file and stop at the most recent backup that does contain it (just one click). One more click, and you'll go back in time until you get to the most recent backup just before the file was created.
Thanks Jim, that's clever, and did work.
I should mention that on my system, it was Control-Option-spacebar that opened a Spotlight window, but otherwise, that's a nice trick.
Thank you!

OSX Tiger as VM in Parallels?
Posted by: "Jurgen Richter" yahoo-1@sympatico.ca epsongroups
Thu Mar 29, 2012 7:21 am (PDT)
Has anyone installed OSX Tiger as a virtual machine in Parallels?
I know you'll ask, why would you want to? Well - my Epson printer
utility broke under Leopard and there is no Snow Leopard version that
will work with my trusty old printer, so I either have to keep an older
Mac running Tiger around just to keep the printer going [and this will
not cost anything, as such] or this method, which would mean I could
switch to Tiger to run this app and then go back to SnowLeopard for my
everyday use....
Technically, it may not work, because the app is PPC not Intel, but I'd
ask before trying the install, to see if anyone has already done so. If
it DOES work, then there would be hope for those who have specialized
PPC apps that otherwise could not run under Snow Leopard or Lion without
Rosetta....

Here's another idea: Since you are running Parallels already, you
probably do run Windows on it. Most printers are cross-platform. Why
not control the printer from the Windows virtual machine you already
have?

Log into a test account. If you don't have one then make one, giving
it admin privileges. See if it works then. If so then it is a bum
preference somewhere.

OT? Two Day sale on Parallels Desktop 7 Upgrade at 50% off

Thu Mar 29, 2012 7:46 am (PDT)
I was emailed this directly from MacUpdate as I have purchased previous
apps through them, including Parallels 6. I have no other connection to
them.
Now they offer this sweet deal to go to version 7 and I hope it's ok to
post this find here.
I know there are other users out there who may not get the email
directly who want to make the leap to version 7. You do have to have an
existing licence on your machine.

issues in 10.7.3
Posted by: "N.A. Nada" whodo678@comcast.net
Thu Mar 29, 2012 11:15 am (PDT)
Is anyone else having issues with 10.7.3 that seem related only to the OS?
Just now I was trying to move a screen shot off the desktop into a folder on an external drive. It would not move at all on the desktop so I tried to move other docs, files and folders just on the desktop. None would move. I quite most of the open apps and tried again. I was about to restart when I decided to just relaunch the Finder, with option + command + escape. After Finder relaunched, everything appeared to work normally.
Last night, I was trying to restart to an external hard drive with 10.6.8. The restart hung at the grey screen, Apple icon, and gear. I had just done the same minutes prior, but it refused to do it this time.
As I was trying to shut down for the evening, the process hung for several minutes. It quite most of the open apps, so they CPU History screen for Activity Monitor, Hardware Monitor, Stickies, and CopyPaste all quit and no longer showed on the desktop, but the docs and folders I keep on the desktop persisted. This continued on for several minutes after the Mac should have shut down.
When I tried to shut it down with the power button, it gave em a dialog box that gave me 4 options, basically asking if I really wanted to shut down, restart, or cancel. I don't remember the fourth option. I kept selecting shut down, but it would not. Finally I got it to restart into Safe mode. I let it restart and run its diagnostics, and then verified the disk with Disk Utilities. Nothing was found.
Finally I was able to shut down my Mac. Similar issues have been randomly happening since 10.7.2 or before.
Last week I had it in for repairs and they replaced the logic board twice, but I think this was a hardware only issue.
Any suggestions?
Brent
PS, Mail has randomly been sending emails from the wrong user account. I just tried to send this from my whodo account and it sent it from another user account.

John,
Try exporting from Apple's Address Book the addresses you want as CSV values, if the email addresses are only in Apple Mail, you can add them to the Address Book by going to the Window drop down menu, choose Previous Recipients, select the address(es) and click the button to Add to Address book.
