Listening to a book/cd on iPhone

Posted by: "T L" techlady04@yahoo.com   techlady04

Sat Mar 17, 2012 6:22 pm (PDT)

iPhone running 5.0. iTunes on a Mac.

After listening to my book, how do I keep the spot that I left off of  when I get back to it?

For example, I stop in the middle of a chapter, but when I go back to it, it doesn't show where and I have to search for the spot.

Thanks  TL

I'm using the iBook app and it keeps the place where I left off in the book
I'm reading.

If you're listening to an mp3/aac file that you ripped from your own cds
you need to change the media kind to audiobook. Select the tracks you want
and under Get Info -> Options -> Media Kind change it it to "Audiobook" and
it will remember the last playback position. The books will also show up
under the Books folder as well.

I'm curious as to why you don't want to use mint.com.

I'm using it and want to head off problems!

I am looking for an application to possibly replace Quicken on my PC. I am looking for an app that can be used on my iDevices as well as from my PC. I want it to be able to download transactions from most banks. I do not want to use mint.com. Any suggestions?

Well, think about it.

You have given the site every one of your financial accounts and passwords. Think about all the sites that have been hacked recently.

Now which will the hackers have a better reward from mint.com where they will find many accounts for each user, or a bank where they will only find one or two accounts for each user.

sooo i guess my question is there a similiar software that will do similar things without the access?

Yes, access each of your accounts separately from their prospective sites, individually, after you erase all your info from Mint.

Can their be one safe site for all your financial info. Not as long as sites keep getting hacked.

I do like mint. The problem I have is I don't like it adding transactions automatically. I also like to reconcile my statement at the end of month.

Mint.com takes care of all your payments? You have to give it the passwords of all your accounts? If so, that's not for me. Someone who hacks mint.com could have access to all my accounts. If my bank gets hacked, that's access to 1 or 2 of my accounts.i

Jim: yes i am in fact connected ti itunes I connect to my PC via the sync cord. The iPhone goes through a normal sync, including a full back up. The back up is on iCloud. I have never done a sync/ backup via WiFi.

In iTunes, with your iDevice connected, if you select the device in the left pane, you can choose "Back up to iCloud" or "Back up to this computer".

If you have selected iCloud, then, as my iPhone states, you "Automatically back up your camera roll, accounts, documents, and settings when ... plugged in, locked, ad connected to Wi-Fi."

To be clear, if you are doing iCloud backups you are doing them over Wifi.
NOT through the cable connecting the device to the computer.

Yes, I backed up the iPad 2. When it asked if I wanted to restore from backup, I said yes. I'm guessing that some of the data didn't get to iCloud.

As I said earlier I'd keep the earlier device until everything is successfully installed on the new one. Also i have found that iCloud is somewhat selective in what it backs up and I back up to my computer regularly. Also should they ever have a breakdown at iCloud ...

I think the biggest problem is sharing music or not if you have a lot.
We have taken the route of both phones on one account and making playlists we like on the phone from the
1200 checked songs.
On the phone added all songs to a playlist and delete ones you don't want on the playlist.

It does seem to be gone from the App store, and the creator's website is also missing in action.

I don't have an iPad, but logic would say Restore to factory defaults, and then sync to the iPad profile you have in iTunes.

I was wondering about how you said it, but did you Restore the old iPad, instead of backing it up, thereby wiping it clean?
