Why would your Apple ID be refused? Have you tried to reset your password?
There is no other version of Lion - it is only $29 and was released about
a year ago. The next version, Code Name "Mountain Lion" is in beta now (on
Developer Preview 2 - should be out in 2-3 months at the most and will
likely be $29 as well).

Bill,

I don't know why it failed, they said the birthdate was wrong. Unless I entered it wrong when I registered,,many years ago.
I tried to get a new one and that failed too. I'm too tire right now to do anything about it.

The problem is usually not the apple I'd but the street address that accompanies it. I had the same problem and called Apple support. I was told to make sure my apple I'd address was an exact match to the address on my bank statement. When I made the necessary repairs to my main apple I'd account and everywhere I use it I had no further trouble.

BLAINE,

What do you mean by 'the apple'.?

Kind of amazing that the highlight of the New York Times article is
'Apple Supplier...'. In the article they also mention that the company
supplies Dell, Amazon, as well as many other major computer manufacturers.

There are many, many adverse articles today, mentioning Apple as the
major player. I have heard mention that Apple isn't, (or wasn't),
Foxconn's largest customer. That may have changed, but the articles
continue to focus on Apple as being the 'bad guy'.

People love to kick an entity that is down, (in the media that is).

And there are already complaints from Foxconn workers about losing hours and money because the FLA is butting in!

my email had nothing to do with the NY Times. irrelevant. MY link showed Tim Cook going to China to improve working conditions of Foxconn.
read the article.
go to work in one of those places, and then tell us how everything is just peachy.

Yes, realistically those places suck, however, that's all those folks
have to earn an income in and with. If I were in the same instance, I
would do what I had to to live and survive.

Unfortunately, many of today's young folk, in this country anyway, do
not have that same attitude. Entitlement, cradle to grave care,
whatever. The mindset is completely different.

I have been in the situation where I had to work at a minimum wage,
'hard' labor job just to rent a room and buy food, at one point in my
life. It wasn't pretty, but I had to do it and I did.

It is my impression that Foxconn doesn't *supply* ANYthing to Apple.
Apple supplies parts to Foxconn, and Foxconn *assembles* them.

Losing hours from FLA intervention is probably better than losing them from Chinese government intervention.

From July 1, 1970, to June 30, 1971, I was on duty an *average* of 108 hours per week, and was paid $180/hour for those hours. In the U.S.A.

And I would do it again.

And so would many of Foxconn's workers, if they were asked.

Changing the OS will not resolve the issue with small text.

The only way you will be able to buy Lion is through the Mac App Store, and the price won't change.

Go to the iTunes store and see if you can access your account there with your Apple ID, and let us know if you can get in.

I said from Mail by mistake, I meant from Address Book.

Whoops, it address-book-exporter is a PPC-only utility. Sorry.
Here's one that should for, though it costs $4.

Just an addition to this thread, but I had had exactly the same frustrating experience, and your solution was the answer for me! I'm really happy. I certainly did not change that setting so it was apparently random changes of settings that seems to pop up once in awhile.

Anyway, I'm happy that my keyboard hasn't died, which is what I had thought. The whole reason I'm using this old white keyboard is to have that numeric keypad, and it had stopped working!
