iphone photos into albums?

Posted by: "Jurgen Richter" yahoo-1@sympatico.ca   epsongroups

I hope this is appropriate, as it does include OSX....

How do I copy any pictures to my iphone 4s from my desktop mac? I know
about syncing photos, but I don't necessarily want my entire photo
collection synced to my phone, nor do I want all the photos duplicated
from camera roll to my mac once I have them copied and sorted there
already. Let's say I have a screen capture (in jpeg format) I want to
put on my phone, either into a specific album, and if not possible, just
onto the "camera roll"?

Is there a way to create photo albums on the iphone and if so, how do
you move the photos from "camera roll" to any of those albums created?

Are these photos duplicated into the albums or physically moved? - I
don't need or want a 2nd set on the device.

Hi there,

You can do so by opening the image capture in your Mac...

You can sync 'selected folders' from your Mac to the iphone using iTunes.

Saving copy of Lion Installer

I want to save a copy of the Lion update from the MAS, I want to install on 2 machines and do not want to re-download.
How?
Does the download stop after completing the DL? (Other MAS DL do not)
Where is the DL file?

Actually I want both the installer and a boot on thumb drives.

Thanks to Katrin and Harry for their suggestions. I am going the Audiobook builder since I owned it and it was the easier way to go.

I don't think it's easier to use a program vs. just highlighting
multiple tracks, and changing one parameter. Seems like an awful lot of
work to do.

I agree with Harry.

If Audiobook Builder is the software that I think it is, I have it on one of my Mac G4s. And it is very time consuming and you will gain nothing by using it. In fact, IIRC, it makes it harder to find your place to go back a few chapters. Why go through several hours of work for no gain?

Thanks Harry and Brent,
However I tried changing the genre in iTunes and then could not get the files listed as an audiobook on iTunes and it transferred the files into the Music section on my husband's iPod. It must be operator error, but at least the mp3 books are now residing on his iPod where they can be found under Audiobooks. If there is an easier way, I would appreciate better directions than I got online.

MacKeeper

Is MacKeeper 2012 a recommended utility?

I have recently seen several advertisements for it, but what are some user
reviews of having the following essential Mac apps: Internet Security, Fast
Cleanup, Antitheft, Files Recovery, Update Tracker, Data Encrypter, Backup,
Disk Usage, Smart Uninstaller, Geek on Demand, Duplicates Finder, Shredder,
Antivirus for Windows, Zeodisk, Bonus Apps, and 24/7 Premium Support.

I don't have Windows on my iMac. I have Time Machine with an external hard
drive for backup. I'm not planning to upgrade to Lion.

Thanks in advance.

I have been running MacOS since about System 7 or so, and MacOS X since the Public Beta in 2000.

NONE of those "essential Mac apps" have ever been on any of my computers.
Nor MacKeeper.

MY "essentials"?
Disk Warrior
Onyx
TinkerTool
SuperDuper!
Launchbar
Dropbox
Evernote
OmniDiskSweeper
EasyFind

That's a good list. I'd add Carbon Copy Cloner as an option to SuperDuper.

MacKeeper is _not_ a recommended utility. In fact, it is recommended not to use it, or any other "cleaner".

I run my MacBook Pro without any of utilities mentioned by Jim, with the exception of SuperDuper! and I have only used that only once, when moving to Lion.

Carbon Copy Cloner is a good option like Rob suggests, it is just a matter of personal preference. Also a back up utility is advised. You don't use Windows on your Mac, but I do, so I use MS Security Essentials on that partition.

I've been a Mac user since System 7, also.

Moving data from G3 iMac to 1 year old iMac

Posted by: "Jim Smith" jas1931@gmail.com   jimmacsmith

My grand daughter has an old iMac, I think it's a G3, it's one of the rain bow iMac.
I have not seen it since I gave it to her father when it was new, so I don't know what system it has on it. However she has iTunes with lots of song and lots of pictures. She would like me to move all these to the new (to her) iMac.
I guess the best way to move all this data over is by network.
Any thoughts?

Hi Jim,

Network or copy the files to a external drive.

Only two option. The best one is to copy to external drive as G3 have old
Ethernet card with low speed. If I am correct they have 10/100 MB Ethernet
card.

Your Mac App Store doesn't show any progress bar? Mine did.

I can't follow this, Brent.

The two scanned images that I want to merge are already JPGs. How do I 'modify' those JPG files? Why would I want to convert them to PDF files?

I think that Staples, where I was earlier, might be able to scan long docs.

I'm not sure Photoshop Elements works with layers, but you would need something that lets you enlarge the canvas first, then paste the second file into position, then flatten the image and save as a new JPG.

Thanx for this, Jurgen.

I'm not willing to climb any curves, steep or otherwise, to hassle with apps just for a single JPG file. It would be less of a problem, all things considered, to find a copyshop that might be able to scan a long document and then be able to present me with a JPG of it.

BTW, how does one 'flatten' an image? Thanx. Oneal
