I seem to have lost my Airport connection. The icon on the menubar says Airport not configured. About This Mac show the card is turned off. This happened after we lost and regained power after the storm.

TIA for you advice.

A power spike when the power came back on, could have fried the card. Although I have never lost an Airport card in a computer, yet. I do seem to have to replace the base station about every 3 years.

Have you tried to re-configure the card?

First thing to try is a complete shutdown and startup to see if the AirPort
card comes back. I don't know if there's anything else that might bring it
back.

How do you re-configure the card?

(The computer was unplugged when the power returned.)

I discovered today, that depressing the space bar no longer stops iTunes from playing songs. It used to, but I don't know how long it has been since this has not been the case. Is there a script I can run, or a control somewhere, that I can change it back? Picking up the mouse and clicking stop is damn inconvenient at times.

I'm using iTunes 10.7

Funny, I tested this when I read your message, and the same thing happened for me. It just kept playing. But I went to the "Controls" menu and chose the "Pause" item (whose shortcut says it is the space bar), but using the menu it did pause.

So then I tried using the space bar a few times and this time, it was working!

Two completely different issues here. One updating apps with iTunes, and the other posting to this list.

Try the update again. But if he has updated the apps on the iPhone, why does he need to update them in iTunes on his computer, other than to clear the badge? A sync should be able to clear the badge.

Hey Guys:

I am having trouble updating my apps using iTunes on my MacBook Pro.
iTunes shows several apps that need updating, but when I click on
"Download All Free Updates", it gives me this error message:

"There was a problem downloading <name of the app. An unknown error
occurred (-50). Please check that the connection to the network is
active and try again."

The network is working okay. I can get into my account with iTunes
and all is fine. I am able to update all my apps using the iPhone5.
All my software is up to date.

Any suggestions as to what this may be causing this?

The issue seems to be updating apps on his Macbook, there is no mention
of an iPhone app problem.
That might be the problem. Mr X needs to run the AppStore app, not
iTunes, on the MB and log on to his account.
From there go to the purchases tab and everything he has purchased
[should] appear and the current status of those apps. When I log in
under SnowLeopard, some apps had an update button, some a download button.
Clicking the updates will download the latest version available. I
believe you should not be running those apps while you are updating them.

If his iPhone apps need updating, then that can be done through iTunes.
Further down, it seems that he has done this without problems.

"I am able to update all my apps using the iPhone5."

Which apps would this be, if not iOS?

Jurgen does bring up a good question.

Is the mysterious Mr X talking about a problem updating the Mac Apps assuming that they are also updated with iTunes, after updating his iOS Apps?

The (Mac) App Store will only update the apps on his Mac, if they were purchased through the App Store. It does not matter if the apps are available on the App Store, they had to be purchased through the App Store for updates to be available there.

And not a single word to help clarify this from Dan. I love (NOT!) trying to solve third party issues.

Sorry I haven't been much help.

A house full of guests and other stuff going on.

Mr. X is a Canadian acquaintance which is why he sent me a message
directly.

He can't seem to post currently for mysterious reasons.

I have some more time tomorrow and will try to contact Mr. X directly
and see if I can find some more info about the problem.

Among the playlists in iTunes is one called Top 25 most played. It does a nice job of indeed, putting the top 25 most played of my iTunes songs, and I like it for that. Unfortunately, among the 25 most played things that I listen to are several radio stations from iTunes. The 25 most played includes these half dozen radio stations. This means I will be listening to my favorite songs, but right in the list comes a radio station, which I don't want when listening to music. Is there any way to only have songs in the 25 most played list, and automatically eliminate or bypass the non-song most played? It's a MacBook AIr.
Thanks.

Yes.

iTunes comes with a few "prebuilt" smart playlists and Top 25 is one of
them, You can edit/modify that, or leave it as it is and create a new one.
Which would you prefer? Would Top 50 be better, or Top 100?

Otto
PS the Mac model doesn't matter in this case, just the iTunes version.

Thank you Otto. I learned something here, having no previous clue that this was possible. The way I did it seemed a bit cumbersome, and I wonder if I did it the right way. But it's working!
What I did was that I named all the radio streaming "songs" as "podcasts" in the "media kind" field. Then, I edited the smart playlist to exclude all "podcasts" and include only "music".
I feel like I'm becoming computer literate! WOW. It made my day.
