Hi, This usually occurs, not because it has forgotten your password, but because for some reason it cannot connect to the mail server (usually not your fault) - you just need to try later.

Sometimes it happens to me if there is an improper recipient address. Usually editing the message and re-doing the recipients fixes it for me.

Best,

Jim

I would appreciate opinions for a good software for video editing on an iPad. I will need to upload to Vimeo or YouTube while I'm on a trip on the road and all I'll have is my iPad. I'll be using a Canon M50 and Nikon D300S. Would prefer a free one, but low cost if available would be fine also. I use iMovie at home.

Thanks for all suggestions!

John

I am puzzled: Tomtom site says you do not need a phone/cellular connection, Apple confirms that you do!

Will someone who uses this app please tell me which is correct?

I am intending to buy a new iPad and want to be sure I am buying the right one = wifi or cullular. If anyone would like to comment on their opinion of using this combination for satnav I would welcome it and also - if cellular is needed - how much data is used in this way.

Thank you.

Charles.

I've had, and regularly used, the App for years now.

The TomTom Apps for the iPhone and iPad contain within them all of the actual mapping data, and the Point Of Interest (POI) data as well.

When you are using the App for guidance, it *continually* is hitting on the GPS receiver for ongoing location data, but it is able to provide guidance with no cellular connectivity.

You *can* subscribe (as an in-App purchase) to traffic reports, which I also find useful -- *these* require cellular connectivity.

I have AT&T, because I got my iPhone originally when only AT&T was available. When I replace my iPad1, I plan to get one with Verizon cellular capability -- so that I can have a choice of networks for data in regions that are weak with AT&T, or weak with Verizon.

Remember that, if you choose to get a Wifi+cellular iPad, you a NOT required to sign up right away (or at all) for a monthly data plan, but can wait until you *need* it.

Thank you for the helpful reply JIm. I am in England so I don't have the same providers but I can easily check on that, at least I now have a definitive answer.

Perhaps I should phone Apple again and point out their error…….. the operator put me on hold to check this information and still got it wrong!

Charles,

if you want to use the TomTom app, your iPad needs to have GPS capability. Here is where the confusion lies. The WiFi-only iPad does not have the GPS hardware, so you need to buy the cellular iPad model, but as Jim pointed out, you do not need to turn on the cellular service.

So both TomTom and Apple are correct. You have to buy the cellular iPad, but you do not need cellular service.

At least that is how I read it.

Thank you Brent - the one with cellular capability (and therefore GPS) is £100 more than the wifi version. Of course one can buy a SatNav for about that price, but al least I now know my choices……...
