Thank you for the kind wishes. I don't mind the three @iCloud addresses, but I have duplicates of each of them in @mac.com and @me.com. I think the real problem is my multiple Apple IDs, which is something I want to straighten out eventually, but having seen posts from you about it, have been putting off until I have a couple of long days free to spend with Apple on the telephone.

I think you really just have to find a couple of hours, or maybe three, to sort it out. (sad, but true)

I was going to ask if your son & husband shared an Apple ID account with you, but if they have aliases under your iCloud account, I guess they do. And you have found your answer

Good lord, that did it! The path to the solution wasn't quite the same as yours (there's no tab titled "alias" in my OS 10.7.5 version of Mail, but there was a button, and it got me there, and the list is cleaned up!

That's brilliant. I would never have associated this problem with iCloud! Thank you!

I use Aperture all the time as on my 27 inch iMac iPhoto crashes all the time ! Thus I told Applecare I would just use Aperture! My life has been very chaotic and too busy to call Applecare and spend hours on the phone and screen share about iPhoto! The last time I did screen share I lost some of my photos on Aperture and you have to agree to the terms to screen share so it is crazy and so I just keep it but can only use iPhoto on my mid 2007 20 inch iMac !
I bought an iPhone 4S and have it in dispute with Verizon Wireless and Chase! What I did use I really loved but it was like a nice iPod and the phone dropped calls all the time even on the phone with Apple! Apple as usual was very good and refunded my Applecare for the iPhone but Verizon Wireless is another story! Every day almost I get more bills for the Verizon service etc and I returned the iPhone!

Has anyone used the iPod Touch with the 5 megapixel camera?? I have a Nikon D5000 DSLR but I really loved the camera on the iPhone!

Sorry for rambling and if anyone has used the iPod Touch with the 5 Megapixel camera would love to hear if it is better than my iPad second generation for photos! Could not get an answer from Applecare about the specs for the camera on the second generation iPad!

Thanks and love to hear about the current iPod Touch as have one from 2009 that is very good but limited as it is unable to connect through iCloud! Too old! Not compatible !

Thank You!

Have had 3 27 inch imacs, one 20 inch, an iPod touch and nano from 2009 and the iPhone with server problems as I live in a place with mountains and many hills! AT&T said forget an iPhone with them where I live and TMobile or whatever it is has no service at all here! Bummed but if anyone has had experience with the iPod Touch I mentioned love to hear the pros and cons!

I have the fourth generationiPod Touch & an iPhone5. In my opinion, the camera on the phone takes much better pictures. Here's an article from Macworld on the subject:

I bought my Mac Pro used and the seller had wiped the drive and re-installed 10.6.8 with a default Account and Home folder called "apple". Once I got the machine home, I made my own password. In an attempt to get emails synched to my name, I changed the Account name in the system prefs to my name, Eric Nelson and I'm the Admin of that account. That didn't affect the name of the Home folder as I'd hoped back then.

Since changing the name of the home folder to my name isn't possible without major risks and other issues, it is my understanding that I need to make a new account with my name. I would then want to delete the account "apple" once I know all permissions and contacts etc, (i.e. all the particulars of the "apple" account) have been transferred to the new account.

I've been using the machine with this setup for a year now and realize I should just bite the bullet and spend the 1/2 hour or so needed to do this.

My question is, how do I insure I've duplicated everything in the new account that is present in the "apple" account before I delete it? Any words of warning or things to look out for is appreciated.

Thanks!

Eric

I believe if you use the Migration Assistant to backup the old user, you can create a new one and restore selected data from that backup to the new user. Migration Assistant will allow you to restore data and settings to a user that does not match the original user.

Personally, I would leave the old "Apple" user and change it's "short" name back to "Apple" to match the long name. Give it a strong password and use this as your admin user when necessary and set your new user to "limited" for added security. If you need the space from Apple, then after you have done the transfer, delete the data from Apple directly. You might consider keeping the Migration Assistant copy as a backup just in case.

If you are run, or choose to run, Time Machine prior to the change, Time Machine will back up both the old and new users.

Cheers,
tod
