Thank you so much!
It's amazing all the "little things" that I didn't realize that I used so much that I end up looking for on the mac.

Thanks again!

Did you look at or download the list of shortcuts? This one is in the
Applications section.

I did look there but I guess I missed it. I've been using a LOT of the shortcuts listed in this link. It's been a big help.

How long did it take you to "re-learn"; everything when you switched over?

Thanks!

Jennifer, I switched over a bit more than 2 years ago. Believe it or not,
the thing that was the hardest was learning to close out on the left on
the red ball, rather than on the right with an x.

The two programs I use the most are Photoshop and Lightroom, and they work
the same..just had to learn the new shortcuts using option and command.

I have never owned a PC. I learnt a lot more about Windows (at work) after
I bought my first Mac for home use. Mostly, I noticed similarities rather
than differences, but then I was never a proper PC user. My main job was
mainframe admin and support.

As someone who finds shortcuts quicker than mouse move-and-click, I quickly
learnt to use
command-w to close the current window;
command-q to close (quit) the app.

In Windows the 2 are not distinct and the x does both.

I do the same thing, and I use Apple's own ImageCapture app that comes
with the OSX to do just that. When you connect your iPhone to your mac
and the app is launched you will see all the images on Camera Roll. You
then select the ones you want to transfer (the image gets a highlight
bar across it, and you hold down the "command" button while selecting
others, if you don't want to select all) to your Mac and make sure the
options are clicked that you want to happen; for instance you can copy
the images and delete the original or just copy, etc. You can also
assign a specific folder to where you want them copied to. I have a
folder called "iPhone Pix" that I use to collect them before sorting
them into my other subfolders/albums....

You can also select the option to launch the app automatically when you
connect your iPhone via USB.

Hi folks,

There used to be a way to turn off specific notices when there were updates from apple. Then they changed to this app store thing and I cannot find a way to turn off the Java update notification, with the result that the app store icon in the tool bar always shows an update is available. I don't want the update.

Second thing, does anyone use Safari for Facebook on a regular basis? I have turned to using Firefox for almost everything because Safari cannot handle the applet Facebook uses and I'm forced to reload the page every time I read a message from anyone. It's very annoying. I've added some things that keep flash from loading automatically and adobe reader, so that's under control, but this reload thing makes using Safari on FB unworkable.

Thanks

Rick

I found this tip on an Apple Users Forum:

- Right-click App to open contextual menu

- Select "Show Package Contents"

- Look for a folder named _MASReceipt

- Remove it or better, rename it or copy it to some plce to have a backup copy

Howdy.

Use the App Store on your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.

I bought and downloaded the app which is called "Pixter."

I've scanned a couple of things but can't figure out how to convert to
text.

I'm currently using Daylite by Marketcircle to manage my calendar, to-dos and client notes (but am looking for a new alternative). Would love to hear from others on what tools they recommend I checkout.
