Roku TV is oriented towards adding apps which they call channels.

Surprisingly Apple TV is nothing like iPads and iPhones and Macs that allow
people to buy apps and add them or get free apps. It is about buying movies
and TV shows or renting them. Jobs says he figured out how to make a new
kind of TV UI that works so expect some pitching major within a year once
they line up all the content partners/TV and Cable/satellite/dish partners
which is no small feat its like herding cats.

Amazon Prime, Crackle and several other things I love on Roku are just not
available on Apple TV but one can run apps on IPad or IPhone and AirPlay
them to TV. Roku cannot ply movies or TV shows bought for your Apple TV or
iTunes unless you setup a Plex Server (unless someone knows some other ways
I do not know). So anything bought on Apple TV is only playable on Apple TV
whereas someone subscribing to NetFlix or Hulu can watch on Apple and Roku.

Interesting to read.
So, in your opinion, which is superior? Apples to oranges - but in a "device" comparison which is the better or more useful device? Just reading this it sounds like the Roku would actually be better in an overall comparison. Although renting movies from iTunes would be nice because then there is no need to return them to Redbox (and the late fees we always incur because we're rarely on time.)

Thanks!

Jennifer
