No worries. But it won't change back to green. The Internet is still working, though, and I'm at the Genius Bar figuring out the Apple TV issue--I hope!

Shortly after Mtn Lion came out I bought Peachpit express users book for this OS from iTunes as an ibook. I downloaded it to my iMac. Was dismayed that I couldn't read it except to view the cover. I later bought the paper back edition of the book.
Long time later I got a Nook to read ePub format of e books which I could buy from Barnes and Noble or check out from our local library. One day I placed the above book from my iTunes onto my desktop. I found a program likely in the app store which removed the DRM from that. I was then able to get the DRM less book into my Nook and am able to read it there. That was some months ago I did that. But damn I can't remember what program I used and the process which I used. My excuse is that it was months ago. I have another excuse also. I am sure I still have the program on my computer among the hundred also.
But the point is there is a way of removing DRM and read iBooks which do use the ePub format.

Calibre http://calibre-ebook.com/ has the ability, with plug-ins, to
perform many operations on ebooks. I use it to do conversions from one
format to other formats. Worth a look.

Look for a plug-in that will help you remove the DRM and have a backup
copy of the book you paid for.

Yes, you can read them on your iPhone, but it is a bloody pain.
Hal, you answered your own question. They want us to buy another Apple product. It has been this way for several years now, so it is apparent that it is not a software issue. So the few ebooks I own are readable by other apps, from other than Apple.
I have tons of audiobooks, but only a few ebooks, just for that reason.

All I do know is that when I purchase a book from the app store I can then place in on either or both devices using iTunes.

I have looked for that. What calibre tells me that removal of DRM is illegal and need to find your method to do so. I have done it but don't remember how.

I know this is a late answer but while browsing my messages I found yours. Over the weekend I used SnapProX to save a streaming video to my harddrive. The largest file I save was 8.8 gb. It took about 30-40 mins to write to my harddrive but it works just fine. Hope this helps.

It shouldn't "leak" data when not in use by you, but it probably does use power, shortening your battery life.

It only takes me a few seconds to turn it on or off.

As long as your use a password to secure your Hotspot you should not use data units if you are not using it.
Some cellular providers require an additional fee to use a iPhone Hotspot, some times called Tethering. AT&T is one.
When traveling for work, I find it expedient to buy a separate Hotspot device for the same amount of money that they want for tethering with AT&T.

Do I need to remember to turn off the HotSpot when I'm not using it? Are my Data usage minutes being gobbled up by leaving that feature on while I'm not using it.
I'm on the road and finding the HotSpot to be extremely useful in circumstances where I want to use my laptop and don't want to pay for wi-fi access. Still can't use it on an airplane but perhaps someday.
I'm paying for data usage per month, I might as well get my $$$ worth, but I don't want to go OVER my allotted monthly usage. My provider already owns my soul.
Happy to learn what others experiences/ warnings are

I am running MacOS 10.8.3 here, and a simple drag'n39;drop works for me.

In Mail.app on your Mac.
I have seen similar on a iDevice in Mail, but never on a Mac.
Open one of the emails and check the long headers. Otherwise I have no clue.
