Unplug Nano, reboot computer, and try again. It's possible that something else saw it as an generic drive and connected to it. Rebooting should fix whatever ails it.
Anytime you can't get rid of the "in use" warning, rebooting (or at least logging out) should clear it.
Cheers,
tod

Any idea how long it will take? And when will the device show up in iTunes? Currently it doesn't even show that it's there.

Howdy.
Thanks for the link.
I saw a reference to this article in a different publication yesterday
and hope it's accurate.
A recent article on the same topic that I can't find again for a link
had some interesting observations on several things that Apple <might>
be waiting on before starting manufacture of a new Mac Pro tower.
1. An upgrade to a faster Thunderbolt protocol called Thunderbolt II.
2. A newer Intel Xeon server grade processor that is significantly
faster.

Howdy.
This is a very interesting iOS app that can use the camera to do
Optical Character Recognition scanning.
I may try it but if anyone here has tried it already please tell us
what you think of it.
- - - - -
"Pixster Scanner OCR, a new app from Quanticapps which turns an iPhone
into a mobile optical character recognition (OCR) service in more than
32 languages.
Point your iPhone at any text, snap it with Pixter and in moments,
you'll have editable text that can be translated into more than 60
other languages and easily shared with others. The app is currently
only 99 cents and does not require any subscription or in-app purchase
to use."
