You should have a search box in the top right corner of of the toolbar.

I knew it was there, Daly, but for some reason when I used it the first time it seemed to search only my library, and didn't look as if it had searched the store. When I tried it again, soon after I had posted my question, it did search the store. Maybe I missed something in the way I did the first search.
Thanks,
...............Mike

The search box is active for whatever you have selected at the time. Select
your library and that's what gets searched. Select the Store that that is
searched.

Yes, I can see that was where I had gone wrong before. I think it was better the old way, with Power Search for the store. I see no need to ever search my library because I can find whatever I want there by sorting artist, title, etc.

I have the same problem with too many From addresses as Daly Jessup.
With the same setup as you (OS X 10.8.3, Mail 6.3), I see the Alias drop-down menu in Mail > Preferences > Accounts > iCloud, but how do you delete any of the addresses? Selecting Edit Aliases just takes me to iCloud, where I can't see how to delete anything.

Here's what I saw. Do you have that button? (it doesn't jump out at you naturally)

This from Apple Support:
Change, deactivate, reactivate, or delete an alias
In iCloud Mail, choose Preferences from the Action pop-up menu at the top of the window.
Click Accounts.
Select the alias in the Addresses list, then do any of the following:
To choose a new color for incoming messages, click a Color Label option. Alias labels appear only in Mail aticloud.com/mail.
To change the name or description, type a new alias name and description in the fields provided. Alias names must contain between 3 and 20 characters.
To turn off an alias, select the "Disable this alias account" checkbox.
When an alias is turned off, all email messages addressed to that alias are returned to the sender.
To turn on an alias, deselect the "Disable this alias account" checkbox.
To delete an alias, click Delete Alias.
Click Done.
Let us know if it works for you.

Not exactly, but essentially the same thing. There is an Alias label and a pull-down menu that lists several different @me.com, @icloud.com addresses, along with one @mac.com one. At the top of the menu it has Custom and at the bottom it has Edit Aliases, but if you choose this last one, you are taken to iCloud, where it is not clear what to do.

Thank you the tip. I went to iCloud and clicked Mail, which gave me a message saying, "To use iCloud Mail, create a new email address by turning on Mail in your iCloud settings using iOS or OS X."
I already have three iCloud addresses and don't want yet another, so for now I am going to let sleeping dogs lie and wait until I have more time to sort this out. I don't have a real need for iCloud Mail. I was just looking for a quick way to get rid of all those extra From addresses, but it's not an urgent matter.

Hm, for me, I clicked the Alias button and was taken, I think, to the my iCloud account where I was able to select "Mail" then delete bogus accounts. Trying it again now, I don't see that it's possible. All that's left there is three iCloud accounts (jessup@mac.com, jessup@me.com, and jessup@icloud.
If you don't see extra accounts listed there, then I'm out of ideas, I'm sorry to say.

When I followed that exact path, there were several accounts that didn't belong in iCloud and I deleted them. They immediately stopped showing up in my "From" dropdown when I was composing a new email.
At this point, all that's left on iCloud is the three iCloud accounts that I'm afraid to mess with. (.mac, .me, and .icloud).
But when I create a new email in Mail.app, I now get not only the iCloud accounts but also any others that I really did want and have activated in Mail.app itself.
I wish yours would calm down and do the same!

Thank you anyway. I think the problem is that I need to straighten out my iCloud e-mail accounts, which will have to wait until I have more time. I don't have real need for iCloud, so it isn't very urgent for me.

I have been using Aperture for some time and am very pleased with its superior editing to iPhoto. Occasionally I will round trip into Photoshop Elements to see the difference but not often. With the later updates to iPhoto and Aperture they can now be used together - that is, Aperture can be opened in iPhoto, and iPhoto can be opened in Aperture. So libraries don't have to be transferred. The slideshow function in Aperture is especially good and includes a conversion to movies which can be played on TV with Apple TV. Apart from the Apple tutorials there is an excellent website http://apertureexpe

Well, that link took me to the iTunes Store page where the Pro version can be bought. On that page, though, the 'purchase39; button just says "Open" and when clicked, the Pro version does open but no purchase can be made.
I deleted the free version and tried to install the Pro version from the store again, as a fresh install. I still couldn't purchase it but, again, I could open it. Now I have no icon for the app (that went when the free version was deleted) but I can run it by going to the link you provided! Not a very practical approach. I hope the publisher can help.
Thanks,

I deleted the free version and tried to install the Pro version from the store again, as a fresh install. I still couldn't purchase it but, again, I could open it. Now I have no icon for the app (that went when the free version was deleted) but I can run it by going to the link you provided! Not a very practical approach. I hope the publisher can help.
Thanks,
............

>> Thanks Dave. It seems to work quite well, and I plan to purchase the "Pro" version. Unfortunately, when I go to the App Store to get it, the button already says "Open," rather than showing a price. When I click on "Open" what opens is the free version! I've sent an email to the publisher to see what's happening.
