Interesting...My iMac already indicates Build 11D50, but when it checked for Software Updates reported the "Supplemental Update" also.
Allowing it to install didn't change my System Information.

Re: iPhoto library question

I want to edit and save a new version of Image A from iPhoto 9 (Version 8.1.2).

Inside iPhoto 9, I open Image A in Photoshop 5 (having set the preference), BUT if I "SAVE AS" the new version from Photoshop 5, it will not be recognized by the iPhoto 9 database.

It's the database thing guy's. That's all I mean.

So yes, to save time, I start from an iPhoto 9 DUPLICATE of Image A. jr

I can edit the photo and then save it, JPEG or psd and it saves in iPhoto in the same event as the original. It is saved as a separate photo, the original is still there. I am using PSE 9 and iPhoto 11 version 9.2.1. Have been doing this with many photos - often saving as JPEG as is my original in iPhoto.

I am using the latest versions of PS Elements (v10.0) and iPhoto 11 (v9.2.1). I can jump from iPhoto to edit it PS. How do I save the edited photo back into iPhoto as a revised photo with the original?

If you edit in Photoshop from inside iPhoto and want to store a new edited version in iPhoto, you must begin by DUPLICATING the original iPhoto image in iPhoto, then open the duplicate image in Photoshop to edit.

It's really wacky, but it's the database app you & I chose to store our images on our computer. I like iPhoto so I don't mind the database logic used.

Using iPhoto/Photoshop I have to forget SAVE AS, but ONLY when using iPhoto. jr

The original is still kept by iPhoto, isn't it? These are in iPhoto Library

Different versions of iPhoto work differently. I found this in going from iPhoto 9 to 11.

Lytro Light Field Camera News

Howdy.

The Lytro Light Field Camera began selling and shipping on March 1st.

This is the new tech camera that captures a digital image but also has
the ability to capture the direction of light beams.

This new ability to capture light beam directional data means you can
focus pictures AFTER they are taken.

Hard to imagine.

The interesting thing is that the camera's interface software for
computers, for moving images to a computer, is Macintosh only at this
time. The company says they are working on a Windows version for
release later.

Yup, CNET had a podcast on this. The pic can be manipulated after the fact,, including angle of view, etc. Quite amazing, you're right Dan!

My iPhone/Canon camera shoots auto focus most of the time.
Can't see families playing w focus in Facebook, etc.
The new tech is fascinating though. Hope it can be
applied in exciting new ways to come. jr

I'll second that. I can see the ones connected by cable, but not WiFi.

Exactly Jim. I had to decide over a tower and an iMac at the time. I chose the iMac. I do enough video processing that I probably would have been happy with a Mac Pro, however, the iMac satisfies my needs.

With Chrome it is jpeg, With Safari it is jpg

Posted by: "Donna Ells" dellis70@tampabay.rr.com   dellis551

Hi! Am running X.6.8 on 27"iMac and am using Google Chrome.
When Safari is my browser I can snag "jpg" files from web sites (where it is
legal to do so) and the files remain "jpg".

With Google Chrome files come up as jpeg instead of jpg. It's no big deal
except I update a few blogs, and the files must to be jpg, not jpeg. It's a
minor inconvenience to change the file name. I prefer Chrome at this time.

Is there a pref which may be changed? Perhaps I've looked so hard to find
it, that I am overlooking it?

Thanks for your help,
Donna
