Players start each puzzle with a minimum of 5 blocks on the board, including: 4 point blocks, each a single square block with a triangular appendage pointing N, S, E, or W; and a central cross block, a single square block with cutouts for each triangle. The goal of the game is to move all 4 point blocks into the four sides of the cross block.

Players start each puzzle with a minimum of 5 blocks on the board, including: 4 point blocks, each a single square block with a triangular appendage pointing N, S, E, or W; and a central cross block, a single square block with cutouts for each triangle. The goal of the game is to move all 4 point blocks into the four sides of the cross block, the triangular points of all the point blocks touching each other.
Point Four sounds like a simple game, but it can be quite challenging. In addition to the minimum 5 blocks (4 point blocks & 1 cross block), there may be any number of single square blocks also on the board. These simple blocks have no triangular extensions, and they come in 2 varieties, moveable & non-moveable (the 4 point blocks are moveable, but the cross block is non-moveable).
The rules for moving blocks are simple, but force the player to look ahead several moves, creating the strategic challenge of the game. Moveable blocks and point blocks can move only horizontally or vertically, and when swiped they will go as far as possible in the chosen direction before hitting another block or the edge of the board. Once a point block is properly lined up with the cross block, it is a simple swipe to make the final move so that it fits into the cross block. However, players must make a series of preparatory moves that allow the 4 point blocks to be properly aligned to "dock" with the cross block.

Featuring 100 Levels of play, players can score points in timer mode or may simply solve each puzzle without the use of the timer. A key strategy in the game is moving a moveable block to a square where it is poised to provide the perfect barrier to a point block. The point block moves until it is stopped by the moveable block, and now the point block is perfectly aligned to enter the cross block in a single move. This alignment/barrier function of moveable blocks means there are usually more than one solution to each puzzle, and that often it is advantageous to have as many moveable blocks as possible. At higher levels of play, additional moveable blocks make puzzles easier to solve, and players can obtain more moveable blocks through an in-app purchase.
