I don't know, haven't done video but with incompatible audio files I use
import file to iTunes and it converts it.

And if that doesn't work right off, there are *lots* of
video-format-converters available, at all price/convenience points that will
take your video & convert to an iTunes-compatible format that you can then
do "add file to library".
