I wholeheartedly agree, Randy. It's hard to believe this is free, and even marginally usable on an iPhone.

I am used to Word but had heard good things about Pages. When I still had my PC, I used Iwriter on the iPad and it was OK. Once I got my iMac, I bought Pages for the Mac Nd iPads, and I am a convert. I can write on Pages and send to friends who have Word, as exporting as a Word document is a choice.
Carol
What experience do any of you have with a word processing program for the iPad? How about Pages? Can it open a MS Word Document? Any suggestions are welcome. I don't expect to do complicated stuff that I would have to do on my Mac, but being able to open files and make minor changes would be helpful, if that is possible.

I have seen single layer Blu-Ray media (25 GB BD-R) for $0.65 USD each,
without much effort (only searching Amazon). That is 2.9 times the capacity
of a DL DVD.

Howdy.
Reviews are coming in on the March 5 release of SimCity 5 and many are
very negative.
Several commentators have mentioned that it may be the most negatively
rated product in the history of Amazon.com.
The Mac version was not released at same time as Windows version
contrary to advertising.
The download of SimCity 5 only mentions Windows compatibility.
SimCity 5 can ONLY be played with an internet connection. This is
clearly a DRM requirement.
Online connection being required apparently a very large number of
downloaders have not been able to play the game due to server problems.
Some who have played the game have had their cities disappear after
server problems.
Amazon.com took the game off sale for a number of hours and now has a
caution/disclaimer that players may experience serious problem with the
Internet aspect of the play.
Since SimCity is a single player game forcing you to be connected is a
very major drawback to those with slower connections, or even for
travelers.

Same thing happened but to a lesser degree with Diablo 3 - the same DRM
requirement and servers were overloaded. The upside is it looks like Sim
players will get a free game.

Does anyone have an understanding of this? Anyone have a way around it?
I have really bad arthritis and typing is very painful.
I don't have $100 more for Mac dragon. I bought dragon express but can't
make it work.

I know virtually nothing about these products but I assume you are
referring to Mac Dictate which is $200 and $100 more Dragon Naturally
Speaking Home?
My *guess* is that they feel Mac Dictate compares with Dragon Naturally
Speaking Premium which has the same retail cost of $200.
Amazon seems to be selling Mac Dictate for $70 off of retail @ $130 - I
hope that helps.

FWIW - I have never even heard of dragon express?

I'll be sending you the hang report off-list, but before I do I want to fill in everyone regarding my experience trying to implement your suggestion. It's sort of a cautionary tale.
First of all Safari did not take kindly to being deleted. I had to use TrashIt! to do it. I thought that I could then use Software Update to replace Safari, but that didn't work (that may have been a problem of receipts), so I looked for Safari on the Apple web site, but the latest version of Safari that was available for download was Safari 5.1.7 (for Snow Leopard). I was able to download it, but it wouldn't open.
I tried to restore Safari from my TimeMachine, but it wouldn't cooperate; not that that was actually a promising avenue of attack, since my backups only date back to 31 January.
Next I used Pacifist to extract and install Safari from an OS X 10.8.2 installer. It extracted and installed Safari, but Safari wouldn't work, complaining of being corrupted or being an incomplete install.
I then resorted to restoring the OS. Since I have an OS X 10.8 installer that only took about 40 minutes. Subsequent to the restore, I tried Safari. It quit twice properly (I thought I'd died and gone to Heaven), but on the third try, it hung and had to be force quit. Undaunted, I tried again several times (testing the definition of insanity - doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome), but Safari wouldn't cooperate and had to be force quit each time. I then updated to OS X 10.8.2, tried Safari again, but on joy.
I've tried quitting Safari in a test account, guest account and root account and I have no problems. This only happens in my account.
So here we are. What do we do now?
