It's not the answer to your question, but it may be a short term
solution. I am still using Eudora with Text Only. URLs appear as
links in emails I receive but they are not clickable.
However - and this may not be the case with Yahoo! - they do function
as hot links if I command-click on them.

The default is the Download folder. The filename might be obscure so try
using List View and searching on date.
I prefer to download to Desktop. From there, I then move any I want to keep
to suitable folders and delete any I don't want. You can change the
download location in your browser's preferences.

Hitachi's spec sheet pdf doesn't give much detail:

Since being bought by western digital, hitachi data is hard to come by, in my experience.
Was hoping for a utility like System Profiler, only more detailed WRT hard disks.

Dave;
You need to search on the specs of the drive, not the enclosure.
Are you able to open the enclosure to see the label on the drive? There
may also be additional info on the drive itself.

If it is critical to know, then you have two options, write to Hitachi or void any warranty and open the case.
Since 10,000 rpm HD are less common than 7200 rpm, and Hitachi did not specify I would guess it is 7200 rpm or slower. What is the maximum speed of data transfer for USB 2? Did you pay a premium for the external HD? If not them I would again guess the more common slower speed.
Most manufactures reserve the right to use whatever is available for external HDs, by not listing it in the specs or only listing a minimum speed. They normally don't list the brand of the HD and change that at will, also, but I would think that until they were bought out, they would use a Hitachi brand HD.
If the speed of the external HD is causing a problem, since Hitachi did not specify a speed, you would have no recourse towards them, and this exercise is moot.

Is 5400 rpm just fine, or should I move up? Is there a huge tradeoff in battery life with a faster drive? Will the faster drive be too hot? Right now, I'm using the stock 500 GB internal drive that came with this machine. I've upgraded to 8GB of RAM. I use Photoshop Elements for digital scrapbooking, and do a lot of work with photos (if that makes a difference in choosing).

Any drive made for laptop use (i.e. just about all 2.5-inch drives) should generally run at low temperature and have low current demands. You can look at the manufacturer
A 7200 rpm drive will perform noticeably faster than a 5400 rpm drive. All things being equal, or close to equal, that's what I would go for.

Before you go for a 1TB 2.5-inch internal hard drive for your MBP, make absolutely sure that the drive isn't physically too big to fit. This has been a problem for folks attempting to upgrade to bigger laptop drives lately.
Any drive you get should be: 70mm (L) x 100mm (W) x 9.5mm (H) and no bigger.
Only the Hitachi Travelstars that you are looking at will fit and offer 1TB. No other brand will.
Here are the specs for the Hitachi drives you are looking at:
http://www.hgst.
They are:
70mm (L) x 100mm (W) x 9.5mm (H)
Here are the instructions for replacing the drive:

Not. In the wild wild west, Mountain Lion would be dead meat for trying
something like that. Reminds me of a time long ago when I played a lot
of chess, I was playing a relative new comer and did an en passant (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/En_passant ) which he evidently had never
heard of, and took this as a sign that any move was legal and did just
what you described, and more. LOL.

Before you imported the images, and when you connected your iPod to your computer, did iPhoto show a window of your iPod images before you imported them? In iPhoto did you then click Select All and import them? If so, they will show under Library/Events. They will be under the last event imported by date.
If you have to, the iPhoto Library file is searchable if you right click+hold and Show Package Contents. But this is a database file and there will be multiple versions of files within. If you move any of these files within this package, you will screw up your entire library of images in iPhoto. Hold Option and drag a copy to desktop of anything you want within this folder. Do not mess with the iPhoto Library contents or file order, other than to drag a copy of an image to the desktop.
