One can enable root without using the terminal then login as root and do your damage. Search Help for 'Enable Root User'. Apple has hidden the GUI for this rather well and it varies by your cat name.

I have generally used it when installing a lot of programs on a new Lion or ML computer to avoid having to put in an admin password over and over.

Neat connection vs rat's nest. Made me think of the ASP(? or some like that) hard disk which had special SCSI and power connectors. Very neat.

Thank you.

I deleted omnidisksweeper and flux. Flux was free, it auto dims the screen
at night and I didn't want that anymore so was happy to get rid of it.

Which is better apptrap or app cleaner. As I seem to have both; they serve
the same function do they not? Or do you think I need neither?

I found from my sparse notes psuedoacronym runs scripts or something that
Macs run at 3:00 am but it's my understanding that has changed so I am
thinking I should delete this as well?

X11 I am not a developer and never will be so no harm in deleting this?

Thanks for all your help. I feel better informed already.
