I installed drop box because someone in a club thought it would be a good
way to share photos. I would like to uninstall it, but don't seem to be
able to do it. When ever i try t5o moe it to the trash, it says I can't
because it is open. i have even rebooted and still get the same message.

Help..does anyone know how to uninstall this thing?

Thanks,
Jeannie

If you have documents or photos in your dropbox that you want to keep, first be sure to copy them to your hard drive.

Go to the Dropbox icon in your menu bar and click the "gear" icon in the lower right, and choose Preferences. Under "General," uncheck "Start Dropbox on system startup," and "Show desktop notifications," and "Enable Dropbox camera import." Actually I don't know if any of that is necessary, but it can't hurt.

Then under "Advanced," take a look to see where your Dropbox location is. Mine is at the top level of my user folder.

Close Preferences, and using the gear icon again, choose "Quit Dropbox."

Now you should be able to delete it from your Applications folder, and delete your Dropbox folder from wherever it has been kept.

thank you randy and others for all the suggestions and so promptly.

a possible glitch i did not forsee is i am in
canada and did not understand how different the
company offerings are between the two countries.

local stores offer this model with 64 MB RAM.
they show model Brother® HL-5470DW, which has a
similar description with 128 RAM. which would
be the better machine

now canon offers only two pixma models in canada:
PIXMA iP4920 - has individual tanks for inks

PIXMA iP2700 - has a single tank for color ink.

there were so many when i purchased my pixma.

canon does offer a number of 3 and 4 function inkjet machines.

in looking around, stand alone inkjet printers
are scarce. would another brand do the job?

i would like this information.

Either should be fine. The HL-5470DW is likely more money as it is virtually the same printer, only with wireless capability.

I don't recommend any Canon inkjet with a single color tank. Ones with the 5 cartridge system are normally excellent, but the 4920 doesn't have as good reviews as other Canon models:

You might instead want to go for this excellent Canon multifunction that is a terrific bargain (at least when you purchase it from Amazon in the U.S.):

I recommend going with a Canon.

Look for the lowest price on "compatible" cartridges from:

http://www.eforcity.com/

http://www.megatoners.com/
(note that their free shipping offer doesn't apply to toner or ink cartridges, yet they may still have the lowest net price available)

The closest we seem to have to those in the UK is Prink.
<http://www.prink.co.uk/canon-pixma-ip5200r-ink-cartridges.php> for our
particular printer.

It says "ink made in USA" so I'm guessing these might be same as one of the
above?

Also, I agree with Randy: go for a Canon with 5 (or more for some top
models) ink tanks.

For the Macintosh (it is different for Windows PC's) the security problem comes from leaving Java enabled within your Web browser. As of yet, there is no problem whatsoever in leaving Java enabled on your Macintosh as a whole, and using Java-based applications.

"...uninstalling Java completely, as some experts have recommended recently, is absolutely unnecessary! There's no easy way to remove all components of Java, and even if you could, it's really just the Java web plug-in that is the problem. If you download a Java application onto your computer and run it, that is no more insecure than downloading and running any other application. It is the automatic execution of Java code embedded in web pages that is where the security risks come into play. So you really don't need to do more than just disabling Java in your web browser."
