thanks, Jim. I guess since Blogger is Google, and Chrome is Google, it would
explain some of the issue.

Rob, the key is to start Quicken 2007 as a "new" file, and once that is opened, choose File/Import/From Quicken Essentials. Then, navigate to the location of your Quicken Essentials for Mac .qmtf file, highlight it, and then click open or double click on the file.

Thanks Nick. Turns out that it was the Setup Assistant that was
messing everything up. Abandoning that, then going through the
process, worked fine.
It's really good to have the Quicken 2007S back.

Is there any reason to believe that this update will, or will not, run on older
versions of OSX, such as 10.6.8? I really don't like to change more than one
thing at a time. I'm not crazy about the idea getting myself in a position
where I might have to roll back the OS if I find problems with the Quicken
update.

Does this version have any more functionality than the previous? I need something comparable to the Windows version of Quicken, which I now have to run through Windows under Parallels Desktop.

Not sure if there's a way to access bandwith usage with Airport Extreme wireless router.
I have a NetGear wireless router using third partry DD-WRT firmware that does an excellent job of monitoring upload/download usage daily and monthly. It's very close to the value that Comcast displays on my account page.
I could be wrong but I think the newer NetGear routers have bandwith usage monitoring built-in... so no need for DD-WRT.

John, thank you.
I am a rank beginner when it comes to modems/bridges. I don't think I am at the level to attempt to install a Linux based alternative OpenSource firmware. I don't know squat about Linux or Unix.
From the little I have read at the Cisco/ Linksys forum, I don't know if the existing firmware or software can be changed.

Office for mac (2008 & 2011)
Posted by: "hester reik" dhreik@gmail.com drhester_06107
Sat Mar 10, 2012 4:57 am (PST)
Gurus,
I'd like some advice please. My grown daughter is applying to grad school
and has time constraints right now. Needs to get her edited stuff done by
mid-week. After her ex-bf poured lemon water on her macbook, he thankfully
replaced it. It's a 2011 MBP. But she has to have MS Office (Word) to edit
her essay and written work and doesn't.
I have 2008 Office for Mac (i have a 3-user license), but won't see her
until after her deadline. She will download my copy for her use. In the
meantime:
(1) Do you suggest she use a free 30-day trial of MS Office 2011 until she
has access to mine?
(2) Assuming she does that, will it be difficult to transfer the docs from
2011 to 2008 version?
(3) Am I correct in assuming MS Office 2008 works on newer 2011 MBPs?
Thanks,
hester
