Spending time with Kickstarter’s Touchtype iPad & keyboard case Posted: 06 Jun 2012 04:40 PM PDT Not too long ago we told you about a new Kickstarter project that caught our eye. Called the Touchtype, the project offered up a new type of iPad case that really piqued our interest. More than just an iPad case, the Touchtype promised to offer a safe home for not just your tablet, but also an accompanying Apple wireless keyboard. If you’ve ever wanted to leave your hefty MacBook Pro at home when popping down to the coffee shop to do a little work, then the Touchtype aimed to make using your iPad for work a real possibility. The thing is, and as we have all witnessed before, Kickstarter projects all look great when asking for money, but what about the finished article? We have been lucky enough to spend some time with a shipping version of the Touchtype, and we don’t think you’ll be disappointed…(...) Airfoil Speakers Touch back in the App Store Posted: 06 Jun 2012 04:07 PM PDT Last month, the folks of Rogue Amoeba made headlines when they announced that their app, Airfoil Speakers Touch, was removed from the App Store. Apple pulled the app, after more than a month of support, without giving the team much of an explanation. Speculation flew about regarding the mysterious removal, eventually settling on the idea that maybe Apple was looking to implement a major feature from the title in its upcoming iOS 6 release. But, as Rogue Amoeba tells it, that wasn’t the case at all…(...) "Airfoil Speakers Touch back in the App Store" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Upcoming ‘ayecon’ theme saturates the Retina display with meticulously detailed goodness Posted: 06 Jun 2012 03:42 PM PDT Are you looking for a theme that makes ample good use of your iPhone’s Retina Display? If so, then look no further than the upcoming release of ayecon. ayecon is the latest jailbreak theme from legendary iOS themer and graphic designer, Surenix. Scheduled to hit Cydia on June 8th, it’s a theme that has to be witnessed to be able to appreciate the amount of effort that went into putting together such an incredibly detailed project. Even coming from someone who’s no longer overly fond of themes, I have to give credit where credit is due — ayecon looks spectacular — hardcore iOS themers will likely love it. Don’t believe me? Then take a look at our hands on video…(...) "Upcoming ‘ayecon’ theme saturates the Retina display with meticulously detailed goodness" is an article by iDownloadBlog.com. |
Analyst: iPhone 5 will have thinner, better cameras Posted: 06 Jun 2012 01:55 PM PDT With the LinkedIn privacy scare and Google’s 3D maps taking over news today, we’ve seen little updates concerning Apple’s upcoming iPhone. Enter KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who argues in today’s note to clients that the next iPhone will use back and front cameras re-engineered with thinness in mind. And if you’re new to iPhoneography, you’re probably thinking that a higher-resolution CMOS sensor is also in the cards. Not so fast…(...) Apple leverages Siri patent to block imports of Galaxy S III to US Posted: 06 Jun 2012 01:32 PM PDT Perhaps not unsurprisingly, Apple has asked the court for permission to add Samsung’s latest smartphone to its list of devices eligible for a preliminary injunction. The company is leveraging its two patents to enforce the ban, one already successfully used to stop imports of HTC devices and the other covering unified search and Siri capabilities that Samsung’s device replicates with its S-Voice feature that Cupertino feels shamelessly rips off Siri’s user interface. Looks like Samsung may want to re-think its stance that the S III wasn’t designed by lawyers…(...) Check out Google’s clip showing off gorgeous 3D cityscapes in Google Earth Posted: 06 Jun 2012 01:20 PM PDT As we noted in our liveblog, today’s Google Maps presser has brought out the much-anticipated 3D imagery that we’re being told is coming to both Android and iOS platforms via the Google Earth mobile app. And as Apple reportedly gears up to preview its own 3D mapping solution at WWDC next Monday, it’s time to take a closer look at what Google’s technology can do. Well, the search giant just posted an awesome video that shows off 3D cityscapes, complete with buildings, terrain and even landscaping, from the new 45-degree aerial imagery in Google Earth. It’s pretty awesome and I for sure am liking a lot where they’re taking maps (apparently, I’m not the only one)…(...) UEFA releases official Euro 2012 iPhone app Posted: 06 Jun 2012 01:04 PM PDT As noted by MacRumors, UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) has just released its official app for Euro 2012. The 14th annual European Football Championship starts Friday, June 8th, and will continue on for the rest of the month. Surprisingly, football (known as soccer here in the States) is slowly starting to catch on here in the States. It’s by no means near as popular as it is in the rest of the world, but major TV networks are starting to bid for broadcasting rights…(...) Seas0nPass updated to support new Apple TV 5.0.2 firmware Posted: 06 Jun 2012 10:47 AM PDT It’s been nearly 24 hours since Apple pushed out 5.0.2 to Apple TV owners, and, at least at the time of this writing, it has still yet to post any details regarding the update. The ATV support page still shows 5.0.1 as the latest software. But perhaps the changes in 5.0.2 were so minute that it didn’t warrant any kind of changelog. After all, the folks at FireCore have already managed to update their Seas0nPass jailbreak utility to support the new firmware…(...)
