iPhoto is a rigid database application. Rigid in that once a photo is added to the database, any alteration (opened in Photoshop and manipulated) is saved as an altered original. The original remains untouched. The altered image stays in the "modified" folder hidden until you manually import it into iPhoto.

iPhoto is a database, and I have to follow it's rules. If I do, it's a sweet way to keep images, but if I don't it can get very confusing.

I caution you about dragging the "Modified" folder into iPhoto. The folder may lose all organization within. You might need the organization in re-importing images. jr

If I choose "+" it goes to "Add Account"; if I log in it asks for things like Description and Incoming Mail Server that I don't know. Anyway it looks as if I don't need to add that account, just activate it somehow. Help?

This email appears to have come from <botteron@alum.mit.edu>. What is it that makes you think something's not working?

I'm confused. You said

"I have a similar question. My account botteron@alum.mit.edu is a
permanent forwarding edress that redirects my mail to what I'll call
carol@myisp.com.

Mail makes all my messages say "From: carol@myisp.com." But for several
reasons I want my messages to say "From: botteron@alum.mit.edu." In Eudora
I could do that. (I miss Eudora! But OS 10.7 won't let me use it.)"

This led me to think that you only had carol@myisp.com set up in Mail and
messages from this group were forwarded to that from
botteron@alum.mit.edu . From
what you now tell us, Mail does not have carol@myisp.com set up but it
*does* have botteron@alum.mit.edu , i.e., the opposite situation.

In any case, as Dane says, your messages appear here as from
botteron@alum.mit.edu .

Why do attachments not visually display in Apple Mail? Apple Mail reports that I did send an attachment w an email, but I cannot view the previously sent attachment.

Yahoo Mail will show me any attachment I've sent previously, so why doesn't Apple Mail? Have I set a prefernce somehow?

Hello,

DSL is finally coming to the sticks and I will be able to get rid of !@#$% Hughesnet. I am signing up for DSL with 5 meg download speed. I want to run DSL down to a building about 260 feet from my house. I don't want to buy a signal booster, if possible.

I have several questions:
1. Can I do this and not loose speed?
2. Should I buy Cat5, Cat5e or Cat6 cable?
3. How do I configure a router at the house and a wireless router at the building?

Thanks!

I would be interested in knowing how you set up your two internal drives. I've been reading that setting the two SSD's in a RAID 0 Striped array would improve the efficiency of the two drives, but I know very little about RAID arrays.

I plan on using my new OWC 480GB Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD as my main drive, and my Crucial M4 512GB SSD for either data backup, or running Win 7 which I currently run under Parallels 8, or even running X-Plane 10 on it's own drive.

Would appreciate your insight.

Nothing that fancy. Main drive is a 240GB SSD, and I replaced the Super Drove with a 480 GB SSD in a OWC Data Doubler. - just primary and secondary SATA. I use the 480 as a secondary backup and as storage for a series of Windows VMs (XP, Win7, 2003 Server, 2008 Server, Win 8 and Ubuntu) that I use for work.

I run X-Plane 10 on a Mac Mini with hybrid SATA/SSD drives to improve the speed.
