Give it a static IP on your wireless network and you should find it will stay there.

Make sure it is out of range of your automatically assigned IPs.

I generally use x.x.x.201 and above.

Personally I think its better to stick with DHCP, and all the benefits that brings, just link the MAC address of any device I want to to change IP address, to a fixed IP address in the router settings. Static IP address, and all the manual setup that brings, are just a headache.

Gurus,

Does it matter that my 'bookmarks.plist' is in both my home folder and
under Library->Safari?

Thanks in advance.

Okay, when I tried before, I used too common a tag. It was the name of the person whose photo it was. So when I did a Spotlight search for it I got hundreds of hits, including Safari history items, and so on. Not useful. So just now I entered "zebrazebra" into the Spotlight comments of a file, and two seconds later searched for that tag in Spotlight, and it came right up.

So my conclusion is that you could use Spotlight for tagging but it could be a real pain, because you'd have to be so careful to make really unique tags to avoid being drowned in results.

I prefer GraphicConverter for the purpose.

Thanks for that comment. I'm a little concerned I may have a similar problem, although when I asked the genius that specific question he told me no.

On the other hand, he told me at least two things I know were incorrect, so….

Best,

Jim

I was just having problems with putting 16GB into a Mac Mini, and in the end we figured out it was an intermittently bad memory slot.

Seeing as it was under warranty, Apple replaced the logic board.

YAY for service!

Either my particular MBP won't except 16 GB, they are the wrong type memory, or they are bad.

I use Spamcop all the time and the way I do this is under 10.6.8
SnowLeopard using Thunderbird is:

Open the offending message; then set to View > ALL HEADERS (instead of
"normal" , short ones)

Then hit Command+ U (that's how i make the source code visible in
Thunderbird).
Then highlight the whole message with Command+A
.... here's part 1 of what you are missing:
Copy the selected code to the clipboard with Command+C

Then Forward the offending the mail with the "forward" button.
The original mail is now in the attachments window frame, and the
regular window is still blank.

.... here's part 2 of what you are missing:
Paste the copied/selected code into your message window with Command+V

Now you have all the source code in the main window and the mail >file<
attached.

Now hit SEND and you have done all you can with this report....
Delete the spam related emails from your INBOX and SENT mail and empty
your trash.

That's all I do...

When I get a spam email in my Mail app, I report it to spamcop by
forwarding the email source code.

I select the spam, I then hit command-option-U and this source text is
now visible. I would highlight all the text, (command-A) and hit Forward
and all the text would be included in the FWD.
This is how spamcop and other spam reporting institutions are able to
read where the email came from and where the links go to and can then
report them.

When I got my Mac Pro I moved from 10.5 to 10.6 and this procedure no
longer worked when I hit Forward as the selected text was no longer
included in the FWD.

This 30 second screenshot video illustrates this procedure and the
problem I'm having.

This screen shot shows my settings.

Can anyone tell me where I am going wrong here so I can have the
highlighted text included in the FWD? The only text that is in the FWD
is "Begin forwarded message:" There is no other text or file or anything
in this FWD.
Thanks
